1. Can't beat the views for the first three days of work this week. Thanks to Lori and Jack for the refuge. The dogs were so happy to have a yard that they did not associate with trees falling down. They all really love the lake. Mae likes to sit in a bed on the porch, Ben likes to sit out on the grass and stare out at the lake, Bruce and Gus like to jackass around all over the yard.
2. Me? I love the peace. I got a lot of work done every day. Then to just sit quietly facing the lake after work with nothing to do because it's not my house. Maybe to see a rainbow that stays in the sky for more than a half hour. And if one has to get up before 6 am to let one's dogs out, to have a tremendous view.
3. Thanks to Ava DuVernay for these words. This is where I am, particularly the end. Biden is not my person. Kamala Harris was not at the top of my list of presidential candidates but out of the VP choices I think this was a good one. But it doesn't matter what I think. I'm not marrying these people. And every candidate has something in their past to answer for. Do I love everything Kamala Harris has done? No. In retrospect, did I actually expect her to completely dismantle the racist system we all operate in? No. Do I think she knows a better path now? Yes. Will we hold whoever is elected accountable for forward motion instead of sticking our heads back in the sand? YES. Let's fucking go.
4. Today I'm back working in Philly, running some necessary errands, sorting laundry, and heading back to the shore tomorrow. Thursday always slips literally right through my fucking fingers. Work is wild on Thursdays and I can't hold on. Moving moving moving today. All week.
