This morning's sunrise thoughts

I love when I get to the beach for the sunrise to see the moon has stuck around to bear witness.
Insert peace sign here.
You guys. Seriously. Please. Think before you take, use, consume. I have always tried to mind the earth, but being down here and seeing our trash wash ashore all the time is making me nuts about it.
And yes, Bruce is still on the beach at 5:45 am despite there being no dogs on the beach in Ocean City from April 30-October 1. Of all the rules to break in life, I am okay breaking this one.  He's on a leash not harming a soul and not only do I pick up after him, I pick up all the other trash I see too. Live and let live. I will never understand why this town doesn't just allow leashed dogs early or late in the day. You would not believe the hell people give other people for doing this. Just, why? Many people do the it's the law song and dance, as if they have never gone over the speed limit, had a drink before they were 21, littered, etc. They also do the they poop song and dance, which, have you ever seen what humans do on the beach? Not always good or sanitary.

Well that was a tangent but come on they're dogs. This land is your land, this land is my land, and this land is their land too. The beach is for all of us.

Added bonus of early sunrise season: a little extra work in early in the day. Getting shit done, my friends.

Happy Friday!

  1. I love seeing dogs on the beach -- running through the water and enjoying themselves! It's the owners who don't have them under control or pick up after them who ruin it for all the other owners/dogs. I have FINALLY started leaving my reusable bags in my car and grabbing them when I go to the store. Also found some very lightweight mesh bags to use for produce -- those plastic bags are even thinner and less likely to be reused than the ones we get at checkout. I need to find a way to collect dog poop on walks that doesn't use plastic bags.

  2. Babies in diapers are worse for the beach than dogs yet you see that all the time so I'm not the person to be upholding that ridiculous law. (I also don't go the speed limit and I definitely drank before 21 so I'm a terrible lawyer...)
    Plastic bags are the devil!

  3. You know how I feel about that law :) I live in one of the top beach destinations on the East Coast and we allow dogs early in thr morning and late at night! And many of the dogs are cleaner than the tourists for sure :)

  4. I hate plastic bags.... they really need to ban them. I'm forever keeping a bag in my car to take the plastic bags back to the recycle centers in Target. I just need to learn to make crochet bags & keep loads of them to take into every store

  5. Our world is so consume consume consume. If we have to use plastic bags, we reuse them as much as possible before throwing out, or we recycle them. It takes extra effort but every little bit counts.

  7. The moon and the sun together, what magic! That first quote is so spot on and how I try to live my life. I am trying to get plastic bags banned here, but the petroleum industry always throws its weight around. Still do my part, bring a bag everywhere I go! Have a peaceful weekend at the shore!

  8. I think if you're cleaning up after your pup AND other litter, you are welcome on the beach for sure!
We always bring reusable bags to get groceries (unless one of us forgets), and try to make a smaller imprint on the planet. No straws at restaurants if offered, etc. Little steps still make a difference

  9. Bruce deserves to be on that beach. He was born for it.
    I love the sun/moon pic.
We as humans have GOT to figure out this excess waste thing :(

  10. The plastic bag ban here in Hawaii has been the best thing ever! I SO agree!

  11. Dogs on the beach makes me so happy.

I don't get not picking up after yourself. It's incredibly selfish.

  12. that's so strange they're not allowed at all! I know a lot of places in florida dogs are allowed on the beach in the early hours, which i see as perfectly fine. AS LONG AS: people pick their poop up.. noting gets me more riled up then people who think for some reason they don't need to pick their dogs poop up. like, COME ON!!!!

  13. I would much rather see 100 dogs on the beach, than what humans leave behind while they are there.

  14. Beautiful morning. Loved the video on IG. I prefer dogs to humans, and I think lawmakers do, too... so let's start a petition for leashed dogs on the beach. Dogs are good for everyone's soul.

  15. So serene! I hate to see people littering on the beach. Plastic bags especially are so harmful for sea life. Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis
