Birkenstock Mayari Sandal
 - From the never say never file: I have ripped on numerous people close to me for wearing Birks. Then I realized my old lady feet need more support in a more polished style than my OOFOS. And here we are. Let me tell you, I have walked all over Ocean City in these, miles, and my legs and back and knees all felt fabulous after every time. I find myself wearing them daily. I can't argue with that and I take back all of the bad things I said about Birkenstocks. I thought the thing around my toe in this style would bother me but they fit like a second skin by the second day.

Champion Women's Jersey Banded Knee Capris - I've been holding on to Old Navy capris for years. They are faded and terrible but I need capris with pockets and couldn't find any I liked until I got these. Lightweight, pockets, good to throw on to walk the dogs. One must have pockets for poop bags, you know. They're true to size and they wash well.

Iced tea - I used an iced tea maker for years but have recently been going old school making it - boiling water in a tea kettle, pouring it over tea bags (I've been using Luzianne or Boston's Mint-In-Tea ), adding a little sugar or honey and the juice of one or two lemons, and filling up the rest of the gallon with ice cubes or cold water. You guys, I am not a huge sweetened tea drinker, but DAMN this is good. So delicious and so much cheaper than buying it. I find the making of iced tea soothing. I love seeing a sweating glass of iced tea on an outside table. And since we're in iced tea season, can we just touch on the fact that it's iceD tea and not ice tea?

Gooby Escape Free Sport Dog Harness - Bruce is a major puller and I have tried three or four harnesses, this is the only one that is a little loose on him when he's relaxed but holds him well when walking.

Frozen dog treats - My dogs go nuts for these.

LOVE YOURSELF. And read that post by Alison.

  2. I'm going to have to get a pair of those capris asap - they look comfy as hell. And I made those freezer treats for my pup and she loved them - will definitely be making some more for the summer.

  3. I am thisclose to getting Birkenstocks too. I tried some on just for curiousity's sake and OMG so comfy.

I've got to get some sugar so I can make tea, been craving it for weeks.

  5. Another Birkenstock convert! Welcome aboard! I have 5 pairs of sandals and 3 pairs of clogs (one pair is over 10 years old) and they just keep going and going and going. As long as you seal the cork when it starts to look dull you should get years of wear out of them.

I've received some comments via email and not others. Right now it seems hit or miss.

  6. I'm not a sweet tea person but I do love iced tea. Perfect time to make some too, I gotta get on that. I switched my blog comments to Disqus, sorry I can't help!

  7. Definitely agree on "iceD tea" but I will never stop saying "unsweet tea" LOL. I have those Birks too and I lurrrrve them. I've been a long time Birkenstock fan though. I guess I just got old lady feet sooner than you! My rec this month is the Forever35 podcast - fun new listen! And I really liked The Tea Girl on Hummingbird Lane, which I read on a quick work trip earlier this month.

  8. I've heard a lot of people make the transition to Birks lately for the same reason--so glad you found something that works!!
I love a cold glass of iced tea in the summer. I remember my neighbors growing up would brew it and let it steep outside in the sun. Funny how that memory just came up reading that part of your post!
My comments aren't coming through on email either and I have NO idea how to fix it.

  9. I've arrived at the age where I'm in need of comfortable shoes, so it might be time to give Birkentocks a try. I live in capris this time of year and my Old Navy ones are worn out in the thigh area (always). Love the ones you shared!

  10. I love hot and cold tea. I am not really a fan of ice, one of my things. I just prefer it really cold. And I need lemon, that's how I grew up. Sweet tea with lemon. I can't drink tea as sweet as my family used to make it! I love those pants. I live in comfy pants whenever possible. Perk of working somewhere that in the summer half the people are wearing bathing suits with athletic wear, I can get away with a lot!

  11. My best friend loves her Birks. Those capris look super comfy, too.
Ly needs a new harness. She's ok walking with her collar, but I want something that doesn't tug on her neck like that (and she broke her last harness from use).

  14. ok i thought that about Birkenstocks as well, but i'm open to try them for support because i just can't hack no support when i walk more than like 15 minutes. i wonder if any of the copy cat/cheaper options work as well.
oh, i have those capris and looooove them. so so comfy! i want another pair.

  15. Blogger totally sucks anymore, which is one reason I'm blogging a lot less. But I'm also too lazy to move my content over to another service. I will eventually need an author website, and no way am I using this.

  16. I wore Birkenstocks in high school...or maybe it was middle school? Whenever they were popular for awhile and I loved how comfortable they were. I haven't purchased a pair since "they came back in style" over the last few years...but I wont rule them out either.

  17. Ooh, I want some of those capris!
Is that a cat in the teal bed in that photo, or a black pug?! Stupid question I KNOW! LOL, but it looks like a cat to me!

  18. I'm now craving a nice glass of iced tea, just so nostalgic for summer. And those capris look so comfy, I'm in need of replacing my comfy clothes :)

  19. OH Goodness Brucie Boy is so cute...and good harnesses are definitely needed on our breed of pups! Let me know if you're getting email messages. This shit is ridiculous!

  20. I have no idea about Blogger comments not coming in via email because haven't posted, but I'll soon find out. Love your comments about Birkenstock. I still have a pair of knock-offs from early 2000's but hardly wear them and now I'm wondering if I finally got rid of them and need to try out a legit pair. Love me some homemade iced tea, we're lazy and use the sun. Oh Bruce, stop being so cute man.

  21. Gap makes the modal joggers and they're awesome. Super thin material, but great for warm weather because I don't like thick capris.
This may be the summer I finally try your iced coffee recipe.

  22. Yes, iceD tea. And iceD coffee. But do you say iceD water? I never thought of it until this very second and now it sounds weird. I need to know the correct answer.

  23. I am about to break down and get some birks too, all my friends are doing it. This is the shoe of 40. I wonder if they make that harness in my pup's size, she is so tiny.

  24. I've never thought about wearing birks, but it would be nice to have something that are easy to slip on and off and are comfy!
