After that I enjoyed a night all to myself in a clean house since Linda cleaned Friday and MFD was in Harrisburg for a conference. Sweet, sweet alone time after I picked Bruce up from Camp Bow Wow. I started a book and trolled the OCNJ events schedule for the year.
Saturday I was out early to visit Lola Jean and Baby Stephen, followed by a trip to the grocery store, and hit Produce Junction for fruit and $5 flowers on the way home. I got new skin care after trying literally all other things at this point. I spent the rest of the day doing five loads of laundry and putting it away in the same day (second week in a row for this phenomenon), changing sheets, finishing my book and taking 4903493 photos of my dogs sleeping. MFD got home around 6:30 and it was a quiet night for us.
Sunday breakfast, started a new book, painted my nails (Zoya Rikki), and took even more dog sleeping photos. It's an illness that has no cure. MFD was out doing Code Blue bus duty by 6 am, then had showings and took a nap while I went to Sam's and the beer store. Completely inadvisable outings on Super Bowl Sunday.
We spent the first half at Frank & Amanda's.
The food, company, and decor were awesome and I won $30 in the first half block pool.
Holler!
Super Bowl second half at Ferko. People were out celebrating after, especially as we pulled into our neighborhood, but it was a lot of beeping and chanting and singing. Flipping cars is not the norm. Climbing light poles is not the norm either, but that is a preferred celebration method here. Lights at 16th & Chestnut and the 16th & Market light were out this morning. As in every crowd, there are a few destructive assholes and that's what you see on the news. Everyone likes to act like Philly is the only town who has assholes. While we have our fair share, Boston had some of their own on the UMass Amherst campus last night. I don't understand destruction period, win or lose.
Weekly food prep: Breakfast is scrambled eggs topped with steamed broccoli. Lunch is PB&J on Dave's Killer Powerseed Bread with a Gala apple and sliced bell peppers. Snacks are oranges and chips. Dinners are the freaking ham chowder from the freezer I've been trying to pull out and get eaten for the past three weeks and leftovers from Saturday's roast pork tenderloin/sweet potato casserole/steamed green beans. I also made spinach dip and bacon wrapped tater tots for the Super Bowl because even when your hometown team is in it the food is what matters, okay?
All the yummy treats! I started a new book yesterday, too.
ReplyDeleteI checked out South Fellini last time you posted about getting a shirt but didn't see that one! I love it. Tried to get some Yuengling on Friday for Superbowl prep and 3 stores were sold out! For the record, don't ever get the light version- it's gross. And if I wasn't baconed out lately, I would have made those tots- they look delicious! Looks like a great weekend! Hope you're staying safe today!
ReplyDeleteI am SO EXCITED for the Eagles!! They absolutely deserve it - my husband was going nuts last night. Also, that Eagles Crockpot?!? So cool! Those tater tots look sooo good, too.
ReplyDeleteMeg, Borrowed Heaven
Go Eagles!
ReplyDeleteI caught some sort of flu / been run over by a truck / wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. So I stayed in bed all weekend and took today and most likely tomorrow as a sick day. Of course I just checked and there is no substitute for me but that’s not my problem. I need to do what is right for my health and basically everyone else’s health. This is no joke.
The UMass Amherst thing makes ZERO sense to me. None. I liked your video. I had hoped to see more of those. Sigh. WHATEVER. I'm happy for an Eagles win because I'm not a Patriots fan... Some of their players really annoy me.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at the whole town needing an Advil. I would think everyone would definitely need some hangover meds this morning for sure!
ReplyDeleteI was SO excited to see the Eagles beat the Pats last night, I'm sure Philly is going nuts right now! Drooling over all that food, and congrats to winning the first half pool :-D
ReplyDeleteI hate and no nothing about football but I cheered so loudly when I saw the Eagles won last night! I don't get the destruction either but people are weird. Those bacon wrapped tater tots look amazing!
ReplyDeleteI still have When We Were Worthy sitting on my Netgalley shelf, unread, since last year. My bad! Cant wait to hear what you think. Maybe it will get bumped up my list then. I was so happy the Eagles won last night! The game was a good one to watch for sure. And JT didn't hurt either. I want to dive into those marshmallows on your casserole. And then swim through the bacon covered tots!
ReplyDeleteLove the Underdogs shirt! I can only imagine how electric Philly is right now! Just the group text with my husband's family was entertaining! All of the kids went to the oldest's highschool and dressed up the statue of the school's name sake in an Eagles jersey lol
ReplyDeleteSo do you send Bruce to doggie camp every day?
ReplyDeleteIf the dogs weren't so doggone cute, the excessive photos would be a problem. I see nothing wrong with it. I've been using Arbonne for a bit - not sure if it's helping or if I just don't care. Our SB party was 95% Eagles/anti-Pats fans - it was definitely a good game!
ReplyDeleteI feel like your neighborhood was probably calmer than mine. We had people setting of fireworks after the win and I'm pretty sure there was some gunfire a little farther down, near the hunting blinds.
ReplyDeleteI need bacon tots in my life.
Also, "gunfire down near the hunting blinds" in reference to where I live is a sentence I never thought I'd have to say
DeleteIt’s always so much fun when a team from your city goes to the finals and the whole city gets behind them! Houston was literally going nuts when the Astros won the World Series! Hope you don’t need more Advil later on!
ReplyDeleteLove that underdog tshirt. I was happy that the Eagles won. It was well deserved, they played a great game.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out that vandalism occurred in Boston. Phila needs to reverse this horrid reputation. I’m so happy for this Eagles team. They have special comraderie and are givers. Teamwork makes the dream work always.
ReplyDeleteHappy and safe celebrating to all. I had such fun and success doing old high school cheers.
Love. Your. Momma.
These Superbowl snacks look amazing!! Sounds like such a fun time.
ReplyDeleteI truly believe that with every celebratory event, there are those who interpret the celebration and festive atmosphere as an invitation to do things they normally wouldn't do, to make bad decisions, or, like you said, act like assholes. And, unfortunately those are the acts that the media shows spotlights. Like Don Henley sang, "we love dirty laundry."
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for the Eagles and for your city! This is a momentous win!
I'm so glad that you posted about those tater tots beforehand! I made them & they were SO good!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a fun Sunday for you!
ReplyDeleteI either need an advil or those bacon wrapped tots stat to combat the combo superbowl and mardi gras drinking and carrying on! So excited for Philly! I am sure it was crazy out there.
ReplyDeleteI was totally thinking of you guys yesterday! Those bacon wrapped tots look amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the Boston link - I put it up on Facebook. I do not care about football at all and I thought I was going to pass out last night with joy. I work at 15th & Spring Garden and my office is seriously considering closing on Thursday for the parade. Which works because my gas meter is on the fritz and that's when SJ Gas can come out to fix it. Houses are fun!
ReplyDeleteLady you were all over the place for Super Bowl Sunday and I'm so glad you guys got the win! Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis
ReplyDeleteA little late but congrats to your town for a huge Superbowl win! I liked the story of the 99 year old Eagles fan at the stadium . . . imagine what the win means to him!
ReplyDeleteI wish the Eagles'-win-smile could be a forever event, without the state-of-the world-frown returning...
ReplyDeleteBut man o man, was that ever fun!!!!!
I enjoyed the game and so glad to see the Eagles win!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! I LOVE all that Eagles theme stuff - that's why you Americans are so awesome - always A for effort - we are so lame in comparison with getting into the spirit at sports events (that could also do to the years of shattered dreams hahah). I miss American Football so much! Europafox x
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine the crazy excitement following the win! I probably would have been cowering at home under a blanket until the night was over. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI love the grey "think" shirt you're wearing in your Saturday pictures!
