Saturday felt super short. I worked a bit, went to Target, we had a Chinese feast at Dad & Carol's with Stephen/Aub/Lola Jean/Baby Stephen and Debbie, then MFD and I drove downtown in the shitty rain and fog to see Dr. Cornel West who was totally worth venturing out in the weather for and finished the night off at a beef & beer for a friend raising money for her CF team.
Sunday also seemed short, and I woke up feeling behind and stressed out which I hate. Also woke up to dog poop IN our bed, spilled coffee, a crashed pantry shelf, second day of pouring rain with wet and muddy dogs, etc., none of which helped the behind/stressed out feelings. It's just one of those seasons in life for us right now, the only way through it is through it. I did my food prep, changed sheets, did five loads of laundry, picked up around the house, cleared out some bathroom cabinets and started two new books - one I stopped and one I'm continuing on with - painted my nails (OPI Warm & Toasty Turtleneck), lit some candles and got the fuck on with it. I also zoned out to The Goldbergs, ate brownies MFD made, and watched Olympic excellence.
Weekly food prep: Breakfast is scrambled eggs, snack - gala apples, lunch - PB&J on homemade whole wheat bread, dinner is clean out the freezer/pantry style: creamy garlic orzo (started with this recipe but used 2% milk) with some onion, carrot, and spinach from the veggie drawer + turkey meatballs from the freezer. There's a lot here, but I'll probably wind up with tater tots and chicken at some point later in the week. I also made breakfast burritos to freeze.
This weekend did fly by.I think having one average person competing in each event at the olympics for reference would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteI’m in such a time warp from being out a whole week due to the flipping flu. Either time flew or was dragging. Waking up stressed is horrible.
ReplyDeleteCan’t wait to see your books
OK - how much more fun would it be if they really did have an average person in the olympics for reference. That'd be HILARIOUS!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe North Korean cheerleaders situation is quite interesting. Godspeed to all the athletes. Thanks to the universe all of this rain was not snow. Wishing all a wonderful week. Happy birthday 🎂 Abe Lincoln.
ReplyDeleteLove. Your. Momma.
That pizza sounds interesting and tasty. It all sounds a bit messy, lol. Awesome that you got to see Cornel West. I'm taking my staff to a race matters in education training on Wednesday. There's a woman here who has developed this training for K-12, but she's also put a cohort model in where campus teams do in depth training and look at how the systems of race manifest themselves in our educational systems. If Wednesday goes well, we're talking about doing one or two cohorts of our staff to look at our programming...
ReplyDeleteI watched a lot of Olympics, too. I'm a widely known Olympics junkie. Hope all the weirdness/craziness (poop, pantry, and coffee stuff) subsides for you soon!
ReplyDeleteI wanted pizza on National Pizza day but was too lazy to get in my car and pick up a slice since I didn't want to make a whole pizza just for me. Boo! I should have just made the pizza because I didn't eat all that healthy this weekend anyway! This is going to make sound like a terrible American but I rarely (never) watch the Olympics. I feel even worse this year because it's in South Korea, my birthplace, but as amazed as I am by their talent, it's just not my jam.
ReplyDeleteI had mediocre Hawaiian pizza for pizza day, I wish I would have treated myself to some good stuff like that. Ugh poop in the bed is so not fun and so rude. Only thing worse is throw up, dog throw up never seems to fully leave. I am ready for the Olympic watching soon!! Sorry the weekend felt short, hope this week follows suit!
ReplyDeletePoop in the bed is a bad start to any day. Woof. That pizza you ordered sounds really interesting and yummy! I had pizza Thursday and Saturday, none on actual pizza day. oops!
ReplyDeleteThe look of horror I had reading about you having to wake up to the poop. Hopefully it was a solid one. That bread looks awesome! Have you shared the recipe for the orzo? It looks really good.
ReplyDeleteWe have a place around here that does cheese under the sauce and people love it. (I'm a weirdo who doesn't really like pizza).
ReplyDeleteI think the Olympics would be 14000% better if they put an average person next to the competitors. Hahahaha.
That orzo & bread look delicious!!
Also, when did Bruce get so BIG?!
Ugh I hate when things just seem to be going wrong! I’ve never had dog poop in my bed before, dog pee yes, poop no.
ReplyDeleteThe Santuccus's pizza recipe is new to me but I'll take your word it's delicious! Loving the photo of the 3 pups laying together and it sounds like you got a crap load done this weekend even if it felt like it flew by way too quickly. That's my feeling about every weekend, more or less. Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of the upside down pizza until dating/marrying a PA guy. I can't remember right now off the top of my head where my in-laws get it, but they know to order it when we come up because my husband and I have "night time snacks" of that pizza haha
ReplyDeleteMmm! Your homemade bread looks wonderful. My hubs would absolutely lose his effing mind if he found dog poop in the bed! Loving the Olympics. Just can't believe how are the athletes train!
