Saturday sunrise.
An 8 am trip to Sea Isle to see a litter of pug puppies. We drove off with Bruce Springsteen. More on how this all came to be tomorrow. We introduced him to our dogs and were home back in PA by 1.
We acclimated Bruce a little to the house and set up his crate. Or, Mae's crate. Whichever. I suspect there will be a lot of Mae and Bruce pics and virtually no Gus and Bruce pics. LOL
Saturday afternoon was Lola Jean's second birthday party. We got her a trampoline (mother approved). People always say I can't believe she's two (or whatever age). I am sort of the opposite. I can't believe there was a world without her in it. It seems like she's always been. And if you believe in that sort of thing, I guess she always has. Bruce Springsteen also attended in a sling since it was his first day. I told Lola we could share him. Fab cupcakes by our cousin Terri. I shoved two of those in my piehole for sure.
Sunday was a lot of trying to get shit done around the house while managing a puppy since MFD was out most of the day. I did get eight loads of laundry done (zero loads of laundry put away, so we look like Ma Kelly's apartment right now from Johnny Dangerously), ran and emptied the dishwasher, did the ol' weekly food prep, cleaned Gus and Mae's ears which was met with much rage, and tried to get set up for the week. Our schedules are nuts, why wouldn't they be the week we chose to bring home a new puppy? I also realized a year ago on 9/30 I wrote a blog about meeting Bruce Springsteen on 9/29. This year on 9/30 I got a puppy and named it Bruce Springsteen. People are like you named your dog that? Yes. Yes I did.
Weekly food prep: breakfast is egg muffins with asparagus, green onion, and cheese; lunch is tortellini soup; dinners are spaghetti with a sauce made from frozen red sauce with the addition of ground turkey and zucchini and taco stuffed peppers. Ole, mofos. Snacks are gala apples and cucumbers with hummus.
Happy Monday you guys. Is that ever a thing? Sometimes, right?
I woke up this morning to news of a mass shooting in Las Vegas. This world...my heart. There are too many people out there hurting right now from natural disasters and this hateful terrorist in Las Vegas. Give someone a hug today. If you don't know the person, maybe ask first to keep things cool.
Happy actual birthday to my niece, the inimitable Lola Jean. Love you girlfriend!
