Saturday sunrise.
An 8 am trip to Sea Isle to see a litter of pug puppies. We drove off with Bruce Springsteen. More on how this all came to be tomorrow. We introduced him to our dogs and were home back in PA by 1.
We acclimated Bruce a little to the house and set up his crate. Or, Mae's crate. Whichever. I suspect there will be a lot of Mae and Bruce pics and virtually no Gus and Bruce pics. LOL
Saturday afternoon was Lola Jean's second birthday party. We got her a trampoline (mother approved). People always say I can't believe she's two (or whatever age). I am sort of the opposite. I can't believe there was a world without her in it. It seems like she's always been. And if you believe in that sort of thing, I guess she always has. Bruce Springsteen also attended in a sling since it was his first day. I told Lola we could share him. Fab cupcakes by our cousin Terri. I shoved two of those in my piehole for sure.
Sunday was a lot of trying to get shit done around the house while managing a puppy since MFD was out most of the day. I did get eight loads of laundry done (zero loads of laundry put away, so we look like Ma Kelly's apartment right now from Johnny Dangerously), ran and emptied the dishwasher, did the ol' weekly food prep, cleaned Gus and Mae's ears which was met with much rage, and tried to get set up for the week. Our schedules are nuts, why wouldn't they be the week we chose to bring home a new puppy? I also realized a year ago on 9/30 I wrote a blog about meeting Bruce Springsteen on 9/29. This year on 9/30 I got a puppy and named it Bruce Springsteen. People are like you named your dog that? Yes. Yes I did.
Weekly food prep: breakfast is egg muffins with asparagus, green onion, and cheese; lunch is tortellini soup; dinners are spaghetti with a sauce made from frozen red sauce with the addition of ground turkey and zucchini and taco stuffed peppers. Ole, mofos. Snacks are gala apples and cucumbers with hummus.
Happy Monday you guys. Is that ever a thing? Sometimes, right?
I woke up this morning to news of a mass shooting in Las Vegas. This world...my heart. There are too many people out there hurting right now from natural disasters and this hateful terrorist in Las Vegas. Give someone a hug today. If you don't know the person, maybe ask first to keep things cool.
Happy actual birthday to my niece, the inimitable Lola Jean. Love you girlfriend!

Congrats on the new pup! He is ADORABLE and I love the photo of him snuggled up with Mae. Fun adventures ahead! xo Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis
ReplyDeletePuppy snuggles - what a great way to enjoy the weekend! xo, Biana-BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteThis is a rough Monday for the country.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to all the puppy pics. Dog names with a meaning behind them are more than logical.
The pictures of Bruce and Mae are giving me life right now. I am SO happy for you guys but I am so, so, so in love with Mae's reaction to a new brother. What a sweetie. I love them. (Also, HOW ARE PUG PUPPIES SO DANG CUTE??!)
ReplyDeleteVegas is breaking my heart. People that go out with the sole intention of hurting others... I just don't get it. We've just gotta stick it to them by not being afraid to live our lives.
I can't handle how adorable Bruce is! esp how Mae is doting on him.
ReplyDeleteSweet cute puppy pictures make me feel a lil better waking up to the horrible news about Vegas. I have people i love heading out there this weekend so this one hits so close right now. My heart just breaks for those families who are mourning senseless loss. Ugh, this world.
ReplyDeleteOh man Bruce is attached to Mae isnt he. That last pic of him snuggled up is just adorable!! Can I ask if Gus now feels lonely or is he generally one that doesnt need a companion doggy? im so happy for you guys (and for Bruce - he's a lucky pup to be in your family for sure!)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those puppy photos! I've always said I could never get a puppy ... and then I see puppy photos and think "how hard can it be?" Also curious how Gus is doing. Mama Mae looks like she's in her element - did she have any puppies in her previous years? Vegas is heartbreaking - I can't comprehend these things.
ReplyDeletelol I was zero percent surprised when you texted me his name. It's perfect.
ReplyDeletePerfect party. Thanks to the universe for our wonderful lives. God bless and help and heal all. Sending positive energy and love to all constantly these days. Love is the hate eraser.
ReplyDeleteBruce Springsteen is perfect and adorable and the pictures of him playing and with Mae are heart-melting. God and Goddess speed to all.
Love. Your. Momma. Damn I didn't eat a cupcake or anything , as usual, too busy socializing and videoing and taking pictures 💖💖💖🎂🎂
I love your new puppy's name and he is so incredibly cute! I'm glad that Mae and Gus seem to like him so far!
ReplyDeleteOne, the food this week looks delicious! Two, YAY for a puppy!!!! I'm so so glad that this ended up working out for you guys. And I'm glad that Mae is enjoying her new little buddy!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new puppy!! So cute. I'm absolutely heartbroken about Vegas. It's sad that you aren't safe anywhere. And don't even get me started about guns, why are assault rifles legal??
ReplyDeleteBruce is adorable and Mae is the perfect "mother" for him. Fun and busy. I'm ready for the end of October so I can have one to do nothing.
ReplyDeleteI CANNOT (yes, shouty capitals) wait to hear the story of cute little Bruce . . . and I can't even with how much Mae loves him. And Vegas. Sigh. What is happening that makes people so messed up?
ReplyDeleteBest name ever. Love the pictures of him and Mae.
ReplyDeleteaww puppies
ReplyDeleteCould Bruce be any more adorable?! Love how he's seamlessly fitting into the pack already <3
ReplyDeleteI am totally squealing!!!!!!!! Looks like Bruce fits right in & making himself right at home.
ReplyDeleteLove the name.
When I saw the first picture of Bruce on your instagram, I totally squealed! He is just the cutest!! I want to smell puppy breath!!! I love how he is always cuddled with Mae. I hope that she is doing better now. Clearly, she is keeping her mind busy playing mama to Bruce. And why wouldn't you name him Bruce Springsteen?? It's awesome! How is Gus adjusting? Not so much a fan? I send you best wishes, puppies are a lot of work!! I often forget how much when I am staring at one...and then I remember how freaking stubborn Mac and Gracie were as puppies and I calm myself down some haha.
ReplyDeleteYay for puppies - and Nieces! Family is everything.
ReplyDeleteBruce is too cute! I hope he is an easy puppy. Happy birthday to your Lola Jean! I feel the same way about my sweet 4 nieces, I can't remember and imagine a world without them. So sad about Las Vegas. When will we learn!?
ReplyDeletenot gonna lie, i've asked for a lot of hugs today. i am a hugger and need it to feel better about this crappy world sometimes. i didn't find out until i got to work and the first person i saw (who told me) was my boss so he unfortunately was the first hug. he was a little weirded out ha.
ReplyDeleteBruce is adorable. love how Mae loves him.
your puppy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!! what a freaking cutie!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso love that you clarified that the trampoline was mother approved. LOL
Can’t wait to hear the story of Bruce. I can’t for the life of me figure out why we are talking about another freaking mass shooting. I am crushed.
ReplyDeleteLittle Bruce is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have so many Awwwws for you. :) He is so adorable and I love all the Mae and Bruce snuggle pics. Precious. Congrats on the new baby in the house. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new addition! He is precious.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to puppy food, you have several choices to consider. First, make sure that the food you're picking is good for puppies. Older and adult dogs have different nutritional needs and their dietary requirements are different. James Schmitz
