Thursday Thoughts - got a photograph, picture of

1. Philly friends, today is the 5th Annual Food Truck Pop Up benefiting Dining Out For Life Philadelphia from 11-2 at 13th & Locust. Go forth, eat, and support an awesome cause. Stop by The Tot Cart. If you're looking for a place for dinner (or lunch if you can't get to the Pop Up) that will benefit this worthy cause, check here. You didn't want to cook today anyway, did you? Of course I am working at home today because the guy is coming to fix the oven. I've been without an oven for two weeks.

2. Saturday is the March for Science in D.C., nicely coinciding with Earth Day. There are marches for science in many other cities and suburbs as well. To find one near you, click here. Put your SPF on, grab your sign, and bring a trash bag to clean up after yourself. MFD and I will be at the march in Doylestown. Science plays a very real role in each of our lives every day. To hear politicians enact a war on science and see a trend toward discrediting scientific consensus and restricting scientific discovery is alarming. The March for Science champions robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity; calling for people to unite as a diverse, nonpartisan group to call for science that upholds the common good and for political leaders and policy makers to enact evidence based policies in the public interest. How can anyone be unable to get behind that?
3. I love when utility covers are arty.

4. I've not been watching TV. I'm excited for this. I love Harry Bosch.

5. I'm mulling over a number of subjects I feel the need to address in writing but have not reached the point of being able to articulate them in the way I'd like for public consumption. Thursday Thoughts was first published here in February 2012 and has continued ever since because it's how my brain works: all over the place with a little bit of commentary on this and that. If you are a regular reader, you know that my longer posts on one subject are fewer and farther between than my bullet point rapid fire posts. That is the truest glimpse into my brain you will ever get.

6. Articles I liked this week: What Happens When Women Legislate and Fox News finally fires Bill O'Reilly - two decades too late. Article I read but hated because it made me die inside: First Protected DREAMer is deported .

7. I could not stop laughing at this.

8. I need bar soap storage ideas for the shower in our apartment at the shore. My stupid soap dish keeps falling off the wall and besides I like to have two soaps to choose from plus MFD has a soap and I have a face soap and now this sounds like a ridiculous amount of soaps, I know. Anyone? Bueller? Ayudame, por favor. The shower is very tight.

9. Reminder: 10 out of 10 times, you already know. You just don't always listen.

10. E-card of the week: Today is National High Five Day, after all. Yes, there is such a thing. It's also 4/20. Will I ever reach an age where I hear 4/20 and don't think of weed?

Virtual high fives to you.

  1. My teacher friend & I were talking yesterday as we were leaving work about how today is 4/20 & how we're dreading it. The constant 4/20 jokes, the kids that actually show up high, or try to go get high. Can we skip to Friday please?

  2. I am not aware of the 4-20/weed aka marijuana connection. Love the e cards. I like the thoughts in bullets approach. I haven't used bar soaps in years. I love the foamy soaps. Happy Friday Eve ❣️ Love. Your. Momma.

  3. Hey I love your bullet point posts.
I never finished season 2 of Bosch. I did like season one though.
I use bar soap but have no good solution for you.

  4. The shower thing, I feel you. We have a little shower hanger that holds the soaps, but I feel like it's germy and gross. If you find a good solution to the soap storage debacle, please share :)

  5. Hmm I wish I had a solution for the soap problem. The only thing I can think of would be something that hangs on the shower head.

  6. I'll be at the march in Columbia Saturday, I am very excited for it! We sell something similar to this at the gift shop where I work: https://www.etsy.com/listing/249881976/white-soap-lift-soap-saver. There are different kinds and some are natural and can be composted! :)

  7. I just love all the 4/20 jokes and memes floating around. My favorite: "Kids, it's 4/20 eve...make sure you leave out your Doritos and root beer for Snoop Dogg." HAHAHAHAHA.

  8. oh my goodness without an oven for 2 weeks?!
thanks for sharing the march for science stuff. there is one in louisville, huzzah. but helping my brother in law move. rude. you can sign up for virtual marching though, that's cool.
i feel you on the soap debacle. i don't have any suggestions though. plastic travel ones? or one of those over the shower caddy things?

  9. Can you get one of those plastic bins & hang it with a curtain hanger on a knob in the tub? Or do you have a towel rack in the shower? Some sort of bar... I've seen ideas on Pinterest - I'm just not good at describing.

Brenda... I busted out laughing at that.

  10. Great reminder about bringing a trash bag! Ugh. The fox article said it best. That whole situation just makes me so angry.

  11. I have this https://tinyurl.com/mzer2zq I hang it on the shower curtain holder (Has claw foot tub) Still gets gross after awhile but easy to clean. I am off you read your articles. I still can't believe they finally fired that pompous asshole. Good Riddance! Have a good day!

  12. I am so confused by this hate of Science and Mother Earth. I am a Christian and I support science and the environment. It's possible to believe in both. I spent all day reading articles on O'Reilly's demise. It's about damn time. The dog funnie - made my day!

  13. I would love some soap storage ideas too! I really cannot believe we have to march for science. How is this a thing?! Ugh, trying to fight the jadedness...

  14. Thursday Thoughts is my favorite. Also, yay for the March for Science.

  15. I thought I would grow out of remembering 420 as one thing... I was wrong. I love food truck festivals! Enjoy! I won't be able to march (working all weekend-boo), but seriously, we need to march for science now?!? That's so ridiculous. #8- soap on a rope. Kidding, kind of.

  16. The food truck pop up sounds amazing and for a great cause. My husband and I need to get back to Philadelphia ASAP! We took the train in November 2015 for a football game. We only spent one night so we didn't get to do everything.
I looked on Pinterest for soap dish storage ideas but didn't see anything. I am delaying making phone calls. -=)
I wont be attending The March for Science in my area but my husband and I will attend the local park clean up on Saturday.
I gave a bunch of high fives today to my student especially after she asked me "don't you think you would like to take a day off soon?" I am sure it was all out of kindness ;)

  17. The "fashion" dog picture is too funny but I feel like there are some trends coming back that have that same WTF effect. In terms of the soap issue, we use bar soap and a cetaphil soap for the face. I have a caddy that hangs over the shower head and then put the soap on a "soap saver" like this one which is like $2 http://www.publix.com/p/RIO-PCI-123298

  18. Would you be upset if a hypothetical someone copied the Thursday Thoughts idea? ;) There are tons of things I consider writing about, but can't seem to be develop a full post.

  19. That dog pic. I needed that this week.

  20. Do you have one of those little shelves that hang over the shower head? Some of them are made with soaps in mind. And you could pick up little plastic dishes or something to keep them in on the shelves and just rinse them from time to time as needed. The dog fashion made me LOL!

  21. I was late, like really late, in gaining the knowledge about 4/20, so I'm on the completely opposite end of the spectrum. Sometimes I really do think I live under a rock... LOL!

I, too, have been mulling over several topics, but am just not a point of where they are ready to have words assigned to them just yet.

  22. Andrew's Amex (which we use for nearly everything) expires in April 2020 and I have to obnoxiously yell "4/20" every time I buy something online and enter it. You can't disassociate...

  23. LOL I can't decide which is my favorite... Dog with Croc or High-Fiving your face. Either way, these are wins.
