What I look forward to in spring

Do you also find the use or absence of an apostrophe in farmers market a contentious subject? I'm following AP here in which the apostrophe is left out because it's descriptive - farmers is acting as an adjective because the farmers typically use and populate the market but don't necessarily own it. Chicago calls for an apostrophe. Grammar nerds, unite. This is why personal and company style guides exist.

You? What's on your favorite things about spring list?

  1. I love almost all these things about Spring. Everything except March Madness I am not sure what it is but I just can't get it to the whole tournament thing with the brackets. More daylight hours YES PLEASE!! Dresses and flip flops so tired of wearing dressy pants to work. I need warm weather I have recess duty every day for goodness sakes!

  2. Agree with everything, even though I only wear dresses at weddings and funerals. Lol.
I love fountains ! Spring is when everything comes alive. Very grateful for a not-so-bad winter. I am haphazard with my punctuations. And it doesn't make me crazy. I cannot stop myself from using the heart emoji exclamation point.
Spring flowers should last longer and a ton of bulbs should magically be planted in my flower beds. I don't like dirt and worms Jmj freak me out ❣️ Have a glorious and easy day. Love. Your. Momma ❣️❣️❣️💖

  3. I don't really care about March madness but I do enjoy all of these things about spring. However, if seasons were suited to personalities, I'm a fall person. Summer and I aren't friends these days.

  6. Hey Steph - I've been lurking for months but want you to know how much I enjoy knowing you'll be here posting every day! I think the winter got me down this year . . . I am so excited for spring and having the breeze blowing through the open windows! And Happy 40th Birthday - it's not so bad on the other side! :-) (So I realized my son was signed into my account so I deleted my comment under his name - too bad it doesn't delete the whole record! Ha - sorry)

  7. Yes, yes, yes to all of this. I'm in desperate need of more fresh air without freezing my face off!

  8. YES to putting away heavy coats and jackets - I LOVE when you reach that point where you can wear a light jacket or none at all. I also am elated when we get more hours of daylight at night...I've been alive 34 years and yet I still get this childlike excitement when I see it's still light out when I leave work after Daylight Savings. GET ME TO SUMMER, STAT!

  9. I love seeing all of the wildflowers in bloom in Texas in the spring! They're just so beautiful!

  10. Reading outside is TOTALLY my #1 with flip flops a close 2nd

  11. Enjoying the beach before work when it's warmer and no tourists are here yet is one of my favorite things about spring! That and the light before work that allows me to be there :) If only I didn't have to deal with pollen.

  12. I'd have given "farmers" and apostrophe without a second thought, but I now see your point.
I don't really like spring, but the random pop of flowers and the open windows make me so, so happy. So maybe spring is winning me over...

  14. Spring is one of my favorite seasons. I love getting home and having it still light out. I love seeing the trees and orchards in bloom and all the new growth. Green hills.

  15. I agree with everything on the list except for March Madness. Basketball (or sports) ain't my jam. I also realize how spoiled I am - water fountains are always working here. Flip flops are always on my feet unless it is raining. And Farmers Markets (I'm pretty sure I normally put the apostrophe and now I feel really confused about what's right) are year-round. And the strawberry stands are open again and I'm SO EXCITED!

  16. March Madness is my jam. My bracket took some hits but my final four and 7 out of 8 elite eight are still hanging in there so fingers crossed. Strictly Farmer's Market around these parts.

  17. flip-flops, march madness (Rock Chalk!), baseball season, tulips, open windows

  18. The shedding of 25 pounds of winter outerwear is my favorite part of the start of spring. Nothing like feeling physically lighter to make me feel mentally lighter too! Basically my happiness level has an inverse correlation with the amount of clothing I'm wearing.

Ugh, I have more feelings than one should about farmers markets. In my brain, it should be farmers' market. But AP is typically my bible.. except for its shunning of the Oxford comma, which is almost unforgivable except that I worship AP for everything else. Also, nothing drives me battier than when it's clear a company/brand doesn't have a style guide, whenever I arrive on a project it's the first thing I check for or create.

Oh right, spring. +1 to everything on your list except March Madness, and I'll add floral candle scents and cotton candy sunsets.

  19. Blue bonnet season came early in Texas this year, but it's def one of my fav parts of Spring! It feels like we've already switched to summer here in Austin...

  20. More daylight for sure! We get like a week of spring and head straight to summer, I wish we had seasons. Hmmm I am torn on the apostrophe, I wish they were all consistent with their advice!

  21. Haha I love that "more daylight hours" is on here twice- that's definitely my favorite Spring thing! I trade your March Madness for baseball season, though I much prefer to go to games than to watch on TV. Airing out my apartment/open windows, flip flops and freshly cut grass are all top contenders. Along with warmer temps in general- I detest being cold!

  22. So, so, so, so, so excited for SPRING!!!!

  23. Spring is the best season!!! It's the perfect weather and I wish it should stay like that all year round.

  24. I would use an apostrophe AFTER the "s". There's a place near me that uses it before the "s" and it makes me fucking crazy.

I am excited for the not wearing of socks. I do not like socks. Open windows and no heaters so less dry skin are a plus. Longer days, too. And I am LOLing because in my post today I also mentioned March Madness but how I could not care less about it.

  25. I'm most excited about more daylight hours, dresses and flip flops and oh don't get me started on Easter candy!!! Trying to be good but I've eaten two bags of the Cadbury mini eggs already and Easter is still a month away. Oops.

  26. I love the apostrophe explanation. I'm already happy about the additional daylight hours. Finally. We're getting a hammock this spring and I cannot wait to just lay in it and read books and take naps all the time.

  27. I can't get enough of the flowers in Spring. This is my favorite season. even though we really don't get full on seasons here but I do love the cool weather, pretty foliage, and outdoor fun. The Farmers Market here has become so huge, it's a great way to spend a Sunday.

  28. I'm with you on more daylight, open windows, and fresh air for sure! I was curious, so I looked up all the farmers markets we go to and none of them use an apostrophe. Interesting!

  29. I'm definitely missing the March Madness nonsense with my staff. Selection Sunday fell at the start of spring break, so I didn't want to break my no contact rules with my staff. I wanted them to rest and recharge... but the trash talk is definitely missing this year. I LOVE more daylight in the spring. I love the warmer (not hot) temperatures. It's farmers market for all the reasons listed. I'm sure of it.

  30. hmmmmm the farmers market is perplexing. i think we have a couple here and none of them use an apostrophe and i never would have given it a second thought but now i'm spending way too much time thinking about it.
i go running with my friend every sunday, and in the winter the water fountains are turned off so we have to carry water bottles and it gets cold against my hands and i hate it.. so i love that about spring/summer/fall = water fountains at the park we run at.
also easter candy. all day every day.
