TWTW - the one where I don't have the brain for a title

Friday night I was in a troll-ish mood, which means no one is safe. I came home, locked the door, finished a book, had ice cream for dinner, hugged my dogs, and watched a bunch of episodes from season one of The L Word.
Saturday morning Geege insisted on getting up early, which he never does, so I hopped out of bed and put shit out front for Vietnam Vets to pick up.

Debbie brought coffee over and we headed to Grounds for Sculpture. It was an awesome day outside, with lunch at Rat's on the grounds to cap it off. More on Grounds for Sculpture later this week.
We hit TJ Maxx after - I bought this plastic storage basket and was complimented on it twice in the store as if I made it myself. An older lady said, "you could put a baby in that basket it's so pretty!" I did that high laughing voice reply, "hahaha but I wouldn't! I wouldn't!" Seriously, I wouldn't. In any case, high five for a great find, Maxxinistas. Debbie headed home and I went to Sam's, then on to babysit my awesome niece Lola Jean.
I was dead tired when I got home and was asleep by 11. Glamorous life, baby! The Ahole Wakeup Committee was at it again on Sunday and I was up and moving by 7: fresh sheets on the bed, sheets and towels through the wash, groceries unpacked, blah blah. I did the food prep early, drank a shit ton of coffee, moved some stuff around on the walls, sat around with the dogs, fussed over this week's splurge flowers, and I was on a Woman's Caucus call for over an hour in the afternoon. I did a face mask while that was going on.
Weekly food prep: Breakfast is a spinach/tomato/cheese egg bake; lunch is salad from Wawa;  snacks are granny smith apples, mangoes, and CheezIts; and dinner is baked chicken with mushroom casserole (recipe coming) or veggie beef soup with rolls. Sunday night, with all that lovely home cooked food in the fridge? I ate ramen and finished off the pint of Talenti because I do what I want
Other Sunday things: picking up the house, laying out clothes for the week, fretting about MFD being on time to the airport in North Dakota because he always cuts it too close for my comfort when I'm not with him, unintentionally repping PP all over the place (yesterday, today, and all the tomorrows), reading mags, drinking tea, doing some research for the tattoo I'm going to get to cover up the one on my back that I hate, and watching all of Santa Clarita Diet.

Favorite day tomorrow! Show Us Your Books!

  3. Well another 2 hour delay today so why not use this time to comment. ;)
You are so organized I would love to do food prep for the week but I guess I am just not that motivated. I do the menu for the week and lay out my clothes for the week so I am not a complete sloth.
I tried to watch Santa Clarita diet but I have a weak stomach which stinks because I was cracking up at the non gross parts.
    All the best to MFD.

  4. I've read two posts today and you both referenced Santa Clarita Diet. What did you think? I love a good TJ Maxx find, especially when fellow shoppers take note. The worst is when you leave something behind, thinking you'll come back, and then spot it in someone else's cart. I've learned many lessons the hard way. I was loving your green coat in the IG pics this weekend, too.

  5. You could put a baby in that basket! Indeed? But... no? Sounds like this weekend was a good balance between self-care and productivity. Well done!! Hope MFD got home safely - with no new bandages.

  6. Love Santa Clarita Diet; I laughed throughout the entire season. I hope it's picked up for season two. I hope MFD made his flight on time; I'm the same way. Antonio likes to be early and have a drink; I'm running to the gate.

  7. How is Santa Clarita Diet? I've heard not so great from a few people, so I haven't given it a try myself yet. Glad you had a productive weekend, despite the early morning doggy wake up call!

  8. That egg bake sounds and looks SO good. I tried to watch the Santa Clarita diet but since I have emetophobia I quickly turned it off and won't be watching it...

  9. I can imagine that high voice laugh... made me chuckle.
Fresh sheets on a bed always perfect way to enjoy a weekend.

  10. Is this your first time watching The L Word? I watched the whole series for the first time like 2 years ago and loved it! What did you think of Santa Clarita Diet? I need to add a trip to Grounds for Sculpture and Rat's to my spring to-do list; I've wanted to visit since Kevin Sbraga won Top Chef. (Though seriously, what an awful name for a restaurant!)

  12. I'm on episode 6 of Santa Clarita Diet. It's good, but so gross! I've been meaning to watch The L Word for years and years.

  13. At least you were able to get a lot of things done! I hate when you get earlier than wanted wake up calls, but at least you were able to get early starts on chores around the house!

  14. Maybe they could accidentally eat Steve Bannon on Santa Clarita Diet? I screamed a little when I saw his picture on the Time Magazine in your picture. I doubt his brain would be big or tasty but getting eaten by zombies is probably the best use of him. :D The splurge flowers are gorgeous and I hope MFD made it to the airport in time and got home safely!

  16. Ice cram for dinner is just needed sometimes! I love when I find something so awesome in a store that people are complementing me for it before I can even get out the door. TJ Maxx for the win!

  17. I have Santa Clarita Diet on my list. How was it? I always love Drew Barrymore.

  18. Yay for Lola Jean snuggles this weekend! Sorry you were in a mood on Friday, but ice cream for dinner sounds like a fantastic idea. And now I need to go to TJ Maxx :)

  19. The mint Talenti ice cream is my favorites so I think that was a good choice to put an end to a shitty day! Too funny about the comment on the storage basket. I need to make a damn trip to TJ Maxx to use up some gift cards. Looking forward to the mushroom casserole recipe. K's aunt makes one for Thanksgiving every year and it's the one side dish I always overindulge in.

  20. lolol to your first paragraph! ha. I had Talenti this weekend too - I believe it was the mint. With a huge cupcake. It was glorious.

Love the PP love. Always and forever.

That's funny about the TJ Maxx basket. I've had finds like that too where everyone you see comments on the exquisite piece. Sometimes I wonder if they are plants to ensure that you don't change your mind.

Funny about your casual meal after a day of food prepping. I swear that I do that on Sundays too - I feel like I pick at the food I'm making so much that I'm not hungry for a traditional dinner. Then at 10:30 pm I eat like 40 chicken nuggets. #health

  21. SO PRODUCTIVE. Seriously, though... I need some of that energy because I am in post-trip lag mode. I need to show my house some serious love soon... lol.

  22. So the comment about putting the baby in a basket reminded me that Temple started giving out boxes to new mothers: "the first recipient of a baby box from Temple University Hospital (TUH)’s newborn safety program, was clothing, diapers, and educational materials— all packed in a cardboard box with a fitted mattress. The box, a functioning bassinet"
Also the Finnish have been doing it for years, "For 75 years, Finland's expectant mothers have been given a box by the state. It's like a starter kit of clothes, sheets and toys that can even be used as a bed. And some say it helped Finland achieve one of the world's lowest infant mortality rates." I know its not quite a basket but it reminded me of the Temple program, I was giving birth when they came out and everyone loved to mention it to me. As our friend Debbie Peters says, Sharing is Caring! Happy Hump Day!
