It's nice to start the weekend being ladies who lunch on Friday. Tara and I tried Snap Kitchen Rittenhouse and she brought this awesome piece she made for the shore house. We both love it.
Friday night trip to Michael's, boiling three pounds of macaroni, purging coat closet and wine cabinet, painting my nails (OPI Go with the Lava Flow), and an awesome massage. I've had an occipital headache all week and this kicked it out. MFD left late for the shore.
Saturday began with terror in the home for the dogs as Mae got shots and they all got their anal glands expressed by the lovely mobile vet service House Paws. Gus shit all over the house in revenge annnnnnd I stepped in it in bare feet. Vietnam Vets also picked up donations. Hallelujah and Amen for purging.
I had to get weekly food prep out of the way early: Three pounds of macaroni salad for Vincent's Big Dumb Face Beef & Beer, breakfasts are egg muffins with asparagus and cheese; snacks are honey crisp apples and nut bars; lunches are turkey burgers with spaghetti squash and snap peas; dinners are baked lemon rosemary chicken breasts and with mashed parsnips and one of my favorite comfort foods: American goulash.
Saturday night was a good time for a great cause - Vincent's Big Dumb Face Beef & Beer. I didn't win anything, but the last beef & beer I went to I won like three baskets so I am not due to win anything for quite a long time. The auction baskets were awesome though and Amanda and Frank did a wonderful job of putting this fun night together.Saturday began with terror in the home for the dogs as Mae got shots and they all got their anal glands expressed by the lovely mobile vet service House Paws. Sunday MFD returned, I went to see Lola Jean (these are her leopard Toms I got from the zulily sale), miraculously exchanged something at Target without purchasing something else, got my $6 flowers of the week from Produce Junction, packed my clothes for Ireland (I've already changed my mind about two things), and took a Sunday drive through Bucks County with MFD, picking up some goodies from None Such Farm on the way.
It was a tremendous weather weekend here, I hope you enjoyed the same.
Let's get down to business this week.
Girl you have some serious will power to return something at target and not buy anything else!! Sounds like a really fun weekend!! Poor pups with their annual shots! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteAwesome weather here in southern WV (visiting my folks). Looks like the warmth and sunshine will be on tap for the next 3 days. I'm soaking up every moment.
ReplyDeleteBaby Toms are the cutest! I love those flowers, I want to get into the habit of buying fresh flowers and then every time I'm at the grocery store I talk myself out of it.
ReplyDeleteLove the LJBQ leopard Toms and the Doyle anchor for the shore house. A spooktacular October weather week for me and all who love warm weather. Cool nights. No heat or AC and open windows. Bliss! Carpe every Diem. Love. Your. Momma.
ReplyDeleteI literally gasped at you stepping in Gus' shit barefoot. I love goulosh. Such comfort food. Glad you had a good time at the beer & beef event.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend for you, not so much the pups ;)! Loving the leopard shoes, my favorite color haha.
ReplyDeletelove the anchor for the shore house, so crafty! and that nail colour is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteoh no for stepping in dog shit. that's the worst. that in home vet thing sounds amazing though.
yay for packing! i change my mind a zillion times, which is why i love packing early. love the cute tops for Lola! good job on the returning something to Target without buying something else - willpower.
Ahh I just wrote about how I discovered Snap Kitchen in Chicago and how great it was. Expensive, but great. At the time I didn't realise they were all over the country but I'm glad to hear they are! Also that reminds me I need to pack up some things for the charity shop...
ReplyDeleteI love that anchor! And those leopard Tom's are so stinking cute! I cant pack more than a day ahead for any trip because then I would be constantly going through and changing my mind. I work better under pressure, just pack and go and don't overthink it method for me. How did you manage to go in to Target to return but not purchase. That has never happened to me.
ReplyDeleteYou mess with anal glands & that's what you get ;)
ReplyDeleteI want a mobile vet in my area... I always want a mobile groomer!!!!
I cannot believe you are already packed for Ireland. That is amazing to me.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could find a mobile vet around here. Ours is hike and with my guys' advanced age, sometimes it'd be nice for someone to make a housecall.
That goulash looks amazing and could those baby toms be any cuter? I wish they had them in adult size! :)
ReplyDeletemini Toms are the cutest!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I'm dying laughing over the Saturday morning dog shitshow. Hahahaha. Ly has to get her anal glades squeezed a few times a year and she HATES us for a week afterward every time. Ha.
ReplyDeleteThose TOMS are adorable and I looooove honeycrisp apples! I bought a bag full this weekend from the local orchard!
With 3 dogs, so darn smart to have the mobile vet out to your home!!!
ReplyDeleteUgh getting your dogs anal glands expressed is the worst, especially when they take their revenge by pooping all over the house later on! Other than that it sounds like a fantastic weekend!
ReplyDeleteAfter we have been away at work, sometimes our dogs will "potty" outside and then Saint will shit in the house. Haha. That pasta with meat looks so good.
ReplyDeletePurging is the best. I need to do that. I made goulash on Saturday night. I hadn't made it in years and had forgotten how fantastic it is! It will definitely be a regular staple on our meal plans this winter.
ReplyDeleteOh no..the realities of being a dog mom dealing with cruel and gruesome things but having to shake it off and rise to the occasion. Crazy right?
ReplyDeleteThose TOMS are killing me with their preciousness.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a mobile vet sounds awesome.
I'm not going to lie... I might have pulled a Gus if you tried that shit on me. IN MY OWN HOME. Those Toms are going to be adorable on little miss Lola!!
ReplyDeleteI love Snap Kitchen! It's too expensive to do everyday, but I love it as a lunchtime treat from time to time. Bonus it's on the way to work, so I can pick up lunch if I didn't manage to make it to the grocery store (which was this past Tuesday for me...)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for an Ireland packing post.
