Saturday morning sunrise. Peace. A donut-off between Drip N' Scoop and Dot's Pastry Shop. And my brother on a bike for the first time in 10 years.
Beach day on Saturday included lots of sand castles and watching Lola being an animal in the water, an all family snooze, MFD getting pooped on by a seagull, froyo, some reading, and a classic car show.
Sunday night we did family pics, trolled the boards, and ate at the Promenade. I swear to god it was more crowded on Saturday night than it was most nights this summer. And surprise! We came home to Geege now having the same shitting virus Gus had.
Sunday I presided over a very serious, uninterrupted (yeah right, not with this crowd) meeting about our upcoming trip to Ireland, then sat out with the dogs. We took a walk to the playground with Geege willingly in the stroller. Victory! Then Debbie and I did some shopping at our favorite Blue Eden and had a treat on the way home...then another treat with the birthday cake Carol got for her and MFD.
Hold the phone! Weekly food prep actually happened. Breakfast is egg muffins with cheese and a spinach muffin. Lunch is chicken thighs marinated in Italian dressing cut up over salad served with the same. Dinners will be avocado toasts and quesadillas with a side of veggies. It's not elaborate but it's not eating out for the first time in a while. Hurrah.I did some cleaning at the shore and made it home by 7. I put all the trash out, did two loads of laundry, and zoned out in front of Shades of Blue before falling into a dead sleep at 10. Perfect windows open sleeping weather.
Some days I have the words and some days I don't. Good thing this still stands. 15 years feels the same as one year. I think it always will.
First full week of work in two weeks. At least I have Show Us Your Books tomorrow to help me through. See you there!
It looks like a great weekend and a very somber reminder of what happened 15 years ago.

ReplyDeleteLove the gate and the beach pictures.
ReplyDeleteHeal all from 9-11.
Love. Your. Momma.
Poor Geege. That sucks!! Poor MFD. Getting bird pooped on is no good. I'm always amazed when that happens. This Irelamd meeting sounds intense. I'm picturing you as quite the stern taskmaster.
ReplyDeleteThat peanut butter pie looks soo good! Glad you enjoyed your weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteLove all of the beach photos--you make me miss it so much! I bet its even nicer now that all of the riff raff (like myself) are gone :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend at the beach! I love going to the beach in the off-season. It's so enjoyable when it has less people. A trip to Ireland sound like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteIt blows my mind there's a new generation that is coming up that really doesn't KNOW about 9/11 ... it still sticks so fresh in my mind.
ReplyDeleteLOL at very serious, uninterrupted meeting! I'm pretty sure those don't exist anywhere. Which donut won?
ReplyDeleteI LOL'd at MFD being pooped on by a seagull! Those donuts look amazing and so does that pie! And loving that pic of all 3 doggies - too cute <3
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun trip to the shore, minus traffic! My SIL got pooped on when we were at the beach for the 4th. Damn birds are good for nothing. The picture of Gus sitting on Mae is the best thing ever. And I really need that peanut butter pie please!!!!
ReplyDeleteLots of poop this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat pie looks delicious and that dog picture is seriously amazing. That's so stinking hilarious! Dogs are such comedians!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds relaxing and delicious and hilarious. End-of-summer perfection!
I laughed so hard at that picture of your dogs in the car!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun weekend with the fam! I had high hopes of enjoying one of the last "beach" weekends on Saturday but was foiled by a human virus (not me- Blue). That pic of Mae in the stroller is one of my favorites all summer. So Geege was ok strolling even with the virus?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lovely weekend! I am so jealous of the weekend at the beach. No beaches here so I live vicariously through your posts.
ReplyDeleteI am super wishing I had a slice of that peanut butter pie right now...or the donuts....or froyo....hmm might be time for lunch!
I am glad that they are riding in the stroller!
I laughed out loud at MFD getting pooped on. That peanut butter pie looks amazing. That used to be one of the only kids of pie I would eat as a kid. That & French silk.
