Fall goals 2016

Life According to Steph

Here we are, back in the land of changing leaves, scarves, the best scented candles, and dreams of a full Thanksgiving table. Fall is back. Just kidding it's still around 80 and sunny but the mornings and evenings are cool and I dig it.

I'll be sharing how I did on my summer goals in the coming days, but here are my fall goals:

1. Whale watching.

2. Pick a pre-cruise hotel.

3. Dinner at Abe Fisher.

4. Mutter Museum.

5. Take a cooking class.

6. Bake french bread.

7. College football game.

8. Donate to Covenant House and PanCan Network since we'll miss the walk in honor of my grandmom when we're on our trip.

9. Purge and reorganize entire house, little by little. Carry through fall and over winter.

10. Try six new recipes: breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizer, dessert, freezable meal.

What are your fall goals?

  3. So many fun things on your list-- whale watching will be so amazing! I love your idea for trying one of each type of recipe, I might give that a try too.

  4. I'm happy with cool mornings and evenings for now, too. I can actually open the windows and the house doesn't turn into a sauna. Whale watching! We've done it once and it was so much fun. I don't know if it is offered where you want to go, but if there is a speed boat option, it's awesome. So close to whales. College football games would also be fun. Greg really wants to go to one at my school (University of South Carolina), but we haven't had a chance, yet.

  5. #9 obviously I love. Post what you pick for #10, I'm curious. What's Abe Fisher and the Mutter Museum? I guess I could google it but...meh.

  6. Covenant House is in the top of my list for donations. This time of the year is awesome. I put on and take off clothes all through the day. If you could whale watch from land, I would do that! #seasickproblems Enjoy today and this beauty of a weekend. Love. Your. Momma.

  7. That museum looks awesome. I'm interested in all the cooking things you'll do, too. The smell of bread baking makes the effort all worth it.

  8. These are good goals - and as nerdy as this sounds, I want to hear how baking French bread goes! Um, it's 90 degrees here still....I hate it.

  9. I finally did it! Made some seasonal goals . . . that felt good! I'm ready for some whale watching details! Have a fabulous weekend!

  11. Cooking class! That'll be fun! Are you doing a specialty? I love to learn more in the kitchen since I'm basically like a college student cooking.

  12. Definitely the season for the best scented candles, and I love how they fill up the whole house. Now I have the desire to bake some french bread, and a cooking class sounds like so much fun. Happy Friday :)

  13. Oooh, I love the whale watching goal! I'm hoping to cook some new things this season, as well. I tried to narrow that down to crockpot meals, though, because I'm lazy and I prefer warm comfort food in the fall/winter :) Thanks for hosting!

  14. I recently signed up for a December 5k and was delighted to learn the beneficiary is a local arm of Covenant House. Thanks so much for introducing this charity to me; I'm happy to be making another donation to the org this year.
#9 is on my all-year-round goal list. I can't decide if putting it in black and white like this or writing it piece by piece will be more motivating. It needs to be done though!

  15. I really like your goals! Good luck with them. I would love to go whale watching.

  16. Great goals, Steph! Mutter is fabulous! I went years ago and saw an exhibit on Lewis and Clark and the maladies of their journey. Fascinating! The old tools are pretty fun too. Some of it is creepy, but well worth the trip.

Have fun whale watching! Get a groupon for it and dress warm. They're beautiful creatures.

  17. Where do you plan on going whale watching? I did it in Newfoundland and in Iceland, but I saw more whales in NFLD. Hope you're able to spot some!

  18. Yay for new recipes!

I totally spaced this post (I'm so far behind this week) I will have to get my goals in order and get going!

  19. My brother got engaged at the Mutter Museum. My SIL is a doctor and they LOVE that place! Can't wait to hear what you think!

  20. I really need to get back in the recipe/cooking game! Can't wait to see what you come up with. Whale watching where? We did a Royal Caribbean cruise to Alaska that left out of Vancouver and the whale watching was the best, even at dinner through those circle windows.

  21. I'm feeling #10 there. Gotta get on that.

I gave up on goals ha ha. But I love reading everyone else's!

  22. Mmmm... French bread. I hear that goes GREAT with Poop Soup.

  23. I've always been intrigued about the Mutter Museum. Unfortunately, the one time I was in Philadelphia, we didn't have enough time to see it. I'll have to put it on my To Do list for the next time I catch myself out in that part of the country. It looks utterly fascinating.

  24. I need to come up with some fall goals. Maybe I'll even stick with them this time! Haha.

It really doesn't feel like fall, though, since it's still so warm outside. It was a little cooler today (60s) since it rained a lot last night, and I actually wore a hoodie for the first time since probably March or April. It was very exciting.

I really want to take a cooking class at some point. I hope you accomplish that goal so you can tell me if you think it's worth it!
