A letter from my mother on her 60th birthday week

Many of you also get a kick out of my mom's comments that she leaves here. She guest posts from time to time too, and today in honor of her birthday coming up on Sunday, she free-styled a little letter.

Hello, Everyone!
Guest blogger Steph’s Momma aka Poopsie.

I had a glorious early birthday celebration. I drove myself in our sweet Jetta sportswagen, singing all the way to the cds my Stephanie made me a while ago - prize possessions! Some my requests, but other songs she randomly threw in that are perfect. I am eternally grateful.

Rich and Sean drove together for uninterrupted man talk and a covert mission to pick up the Stock’s birthday cake. I Instagrammed practically the entire awesome weekend.  A picture scrapbook of my life.  I love Instagram!

My material for this guest blog was going to be on a different vein, but in light of the largest mass shooting in USA history, other thoughts came to mind. I always say I don’t want much, only for myself and my people to be safe, happy, and healthy. Safe and sound all the way around. Well, it is a lot to ask for - it’s everything that is important! The universe and the angels and all that be have a very difficult job keeping us all safe and sound. Good Goddess!
I constantly use the angels, lights, and love emojis and surround everyone, everything, everywhere with the lights, especially the white light. The big mother white light!!!  Just do it! It’s free, it’s easy, it becomes automatic. My tweets and instagrams put all of that into the universe every time I use the love and lights and angels emojis. This does not mean nothing “bad” will ever happen, it just puts more good stuff into the universe. Positive instead of negative.

I need a page-a-day calendar to start each new year.  A meaningful page-a-day calendar. I write my daily gratitude list on the back of each day and fold it and put it in a big plastic zip lock. Being grateful, saying affirmations a lot have changed my life for the better. Really, really better. I am not perfect, but now correct myself if I get aggravated and/or complain and immediately concentrate on the positives of the situations. Being angry is bad for your mind, body, and soul.

So I am eternally grateful for the priceless “things” in my life.  Do not ever take one nanosecond for granted.

As I am typing this, my son calls and said he had a blow out on 95 in Delaware. Ruined tire, but he is safe. My sweet little granddaughter went down easily for her second nap of the day. It’s a beautiful day. Our other car is being serviced and we have the VW “bonus” to cover some of that. Thanks to the universe! Always look on the bright side of life!

Love, Steph’s Momma

  2. Aww, I absolutely adore and admire and try to live with her attitude! What an inspiration she is to you . . . no wonder you're so awesome! I agree that you always have to shine light into the world . . . there is enough "darkness" as it is. Again, Happy Birthday to her! Cheers to many more!

  4. This is the sweetest thing! I totally agree with your mom's philosophy, bring love and light into the world. I knew someone that was always griping and bringing everyone down around her, no thank you! Spreading joy and love is what I like to do. Happy birthday again!!!

  5. Thanks everyone! Please note I sometimes fall off the positive bandwagon and don't get back on as quickly as I should.

  7. You rock Poopsie. Hope you had a wonderful birthday. I have been trying to be more positive but it doesn't come easy to me. lol I think having gratitude is so important. I love the idea of having a daily gratitude list. I had been saying them out loud but now I'm going to write them in my planner. Great idea!

  9. Love this, Linda! I have learned, as I've gotten older, that you don't get good back if you put bad out. That doesn't mean I don't still lose my temper or need to vent, but I try not to respond to people in anger or go after people like I did when I was younger. Life is too short to create enemies when you have the power to simply breathe, walk away, and come back to a problem when you can prevail with a cooler head.

  15. I love the idea of having the affirmations and the things you're grateful for each day on the back! At one point in college I started a gratitude journal, where I listed 3 things each day that I was thankful or grateful for and it was funny how quickly my perspective shifted to start LOOKING for the good things!

  16. Happy Birthday to your mom!!!! I love that she writes down her daily gratitude on the calendar sheets. That is so smart and gives those things a great purpose!!! And I have to agree that being angry is bad for your soul. I try to let go of my angers as quickly as I can.

  17. Congratulations on entering into the best years of your life! Your outlook & take on pursuing happiness & contentment are wonderful & gratifying. For my 64th, my son gave me a 5 year Mom journal. One sentence per day & I write at least one of the many daily blessings each night before falling asleep. Isn't it amazing how far we've grown to this point in our lives? I wish you many, many happy years ahead :)
