Costa Rica is one of the most popular destinations on the planet not only for adventure seekers and couples, but also for families with kids. There are loads of fun things to do and see, and the great thing is that it is also a surprisingly affordable place to enjoy a much-needed getaway with those you love most.

Choose the Right Time to Travel

In Costa Rica, there are two main seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. The dry season, or the high season, runs from December to April, and it is the most popular, so expect a lot more tourists, bigger crowds at attractions, and more expensive hotel costs. On the other hand, the rainy season, which is also referred to as the green season because everything is lush and blooming from the rain, runs from May to November. This season is less popular and, therefore, less crowded and more affordable.

Book Your Accommodations in Advance

Because Costa Rica is such a popular tourist destination for people from all over the world, it really is best to book your accommodations well in advance, if possible. This is especially true if you are planning on traveling there during the peak season or during Easter or Christmas. Also, by booking early, you can grab an amazing Costa Rica rental with breathtaking views and luxury amenities at a great price.

Check Out an Active Volcano

Imagine the excitement your kids will feel over being able to explore an active volcano for the very first time. Well, they can do that in Costa Rica, thanks to the Arenal Volcano. You can view a minor eruption and stay safe with your guide as you check out this natural wonder, and then you head down to its base to experience the Tabacon Hot Springs. Hike the various trails to a waterfall, a natural pool, and a bridge, and then watch Arenal erupt from a distance.

Reconnect with Nature

Costa Rica is the ideal place to go if you want to really reconnect with nature while disconnecting a bit from the modern world. With so many rainforests, parks, and beaches to explore, and myriad species of incredible wildlife, there is no shortage of fun to be had in the great outdoors. For example, you can hike through Manuel Antonio National Park, featuring trails that are easy for kids, and search for the slots and giant iguanas. You can also head to the beach, where you can enjoy a picnic and go snorkeling so you can swim with tropical fish. Plus, because the country is a leader in being eco-friendly and providing eco-tourism, there is a lot of unspoiled beauty all around you.

As you can see, Costa Rica proves to be a perfect destination for a family vacation. There are activities the entire family can enjoy, including plenty of fun things for the kids to do each day.
