TWTW - the one where I wanted to be totally lazy but was only a littlelazy

I was supposed to stop at the grocery store on the way home on Friday, but when I got in my car after getting off the train, I was just dunzo. There was much teeth gnashing and hand wringing because I didn't place an order in time for delivery. MFD to the rescue - he hit Target and Giant for me and brought flowers home to boot while I laid on the couch and did nothing with the dogs.
Saturday I met Melissa at the train station and we headed to NYC for Kim's baby shower. It was a nice afternoon with my lady friends of 20+ years complete with inappropriate behavior involving worry dolls. Melissa and I enjoyed a refreshing walk back to Penn Station from Pete's Tavern in Gramercy and made the train home in perfect time.
When I got home, I felt like doing absolutely nothing. I did rally to make a pan of brownies and a scaled down version of cold taco dip for Sunday.
Sunday dawned gray and rainy. I lingered in bed and over coffee before getting my shit together and heading out to Produce Junction. Weekly food prep included egg muffins with green onion, gouda cheese, and tomato for breakfasts; salads for lunch; veggies for snacks; and scrambled eggs and poop soup (ground beef, blueberries, carrots, zucchini, sweet potato, shiitake mushrooms, and coconut oil this week) for the dogs.
MFD's family came over for dinner Sunday. I made pulled pork and pulled buffalo chicken (served on kaisers) and a big green salad along with the taco dip and brownies above and (not pictured) veggie dip. MFD made two pans of macaroni and cheese. Notice him smiling big? It's not because he's proud of his mac and cheese, although he was. He got his temporary caps on his teeth on Saturday. He will no longer be a closed mouth smiler.
Other Sunday things: wearing flip flops and airing out the house in the afternoon on January 10 even though it was absolutely freezing by 7 p.m. This weather is bananas. I used some Amazon giftcards to purchase things for our upcoming trip, and shopped Christa's Scentsy party. Yes, I did take the easy way out and snap photos of my computer screen in lieu of finding cleaner images.
And Geege had dinareena while the family was over.
And after asking for advice on removing gel nail polish at home, I picked it off like an a-hole.
And JLo looked fierce AF at the Golden Globes.
And were you ordering sun hats and bathing suits online and emailing South African drivers at 1:30 am? No? Just me? Please pass the coffee.

And that is the weekend that was. How was yours? This morning I woke up with a fever. Something's been going around my office. A little over a week until vacation. I need to kick this. Elderberry extract, tea, and oregano essential oil all the live long day up in here.

Tomorrow, we talk books. See you here for that.

  3. Your meal prep always blows mine out of the water - here I think getting two days ahead is good haha!! The weather sucked yesterday but glad you had a great time with family! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  4. AWWW MFD braving Target and bringing flowers!! That's awesome that you got to catch up with old friends at the shower. Sometimes that's absolutely necessary. Poor Geege. We've been having some of those issues with the pup. I'm sure that's why the Dog Whisperer has him on a regimented schedule now.... Only deviated from by my mom the pushover. Emailing South African drivers at 1:30am sounds like the beginning of an email scam. Stay vigilant. ;)

  5. just for kicks, i googled how long it takes one who lives in philly to get to NYC by train and it's only 1.5hrs? that's pretty awesome.

sometimes you just need lazy weekends and although it's nerve-wracking because shizz still needs to get done, recharging is a must...esp when you've been on the go for so long (aka shore house etc).

  8. I want to eat at your house, minus the dog incident. I thought you were normally an awards show tweeter? Missed your commentary last night.

  9. I am anxious over all of the preparations for Africa, and I'm not even going on the trip!! Effing dogs. It always happens like that. Kids or dogs are always shitting themselves and making a mess when guests are there.

  10. Oh no, you have to be better for your trip!!! Use Thieves.

I had a lovely weekend, dinner with good friends Saturday, close friends' visit on Sunday, lots of getting shit done in between... an excellent weekend!

  12. Oh no... I'm so sick of stinkin' fevers! Had one all weekend. If anything, maybe it will boost your immune system FOR the trip so you wont get sick while you're away.

  13. Your all's meal prepping is always on point! Hope you get to feeling better!

  14. I'm so excited to see all the photos from your trip to Africa! Seriously cannot wait.

I hope you get to feeling better. The sickness means business around here and we are FINALLY shaking it off.

Your weekend looks SUPER productive compared to my lazy one of binge watching TV. LOL

  16. Your husband wins the best husband award for not only running errands but also for bringing home flowers too! Baby showers are always so much fun, and it's always wonderful when you get extra time to spend with your friend on a long train ride. All of the food you prepared for your family sounds and looks amazing, and that sucks that Geege had the runs while everybody was over. A sick dog is definitely no fun to deal with!

  17. Ummm yeah that is not lazy! The rain took it out of me so I stayed in to meal prep. It amazes me how quickly you can get to NYC. Hope you feel better soon, it is for sure something going around.

  18. Ugh, I want to spend the day in NYC! Lucky you are so close (and lucky to be in Philly too, another cool spot :). I did the same on Friday: Couch + Dog + Movie. Felt quite nice. That food looks delicious!!!

  19. Awww... so sweet that MFD picked up flowers, too! :)
Cold taco dip... FUCK YEAH. We're making some for our girls up north trip this weekend. I can't wait to get at it!

  20. I want a square muffin pan.

I have to take a day trip to NY (well, my parents' house) this weekend. I do not love day trips to NY. They wear me the hell out. But I'm glad you had fun with your friends and still pulled it together for Sunday.

Hope you feel better. This is terrible timing. #coldsareassholes

  21. I swear this was the perfect weekend to just be lazy and relax. And umm I've been picking at my gel nails all weekend. Only 4 red nails left. The others are in bad shape.

  22. I slept horrible last night and was up at 1:00 AM swimsuit shopping, so I feel your pain today. I had 3 cups of coffee and did my workout during lunch so I could sit on the couch tonight and possibly go to bed at 8. Happy Monday.

  23. I am a late commenter today. Agree on Jlo!
Glad you could WFH today. I will take whatever warmth we get in the winter. I want no snow or ice. Ever. Infusing the green light of healing. Love. Your. Momma.

  24. Inappropriate behavior is always a good idea, and MFD for the win hitting up the stores for you and bringing home pretty flowers :)

  25. ohhh no, hope you don't get sick before your trip, that would suck. or at least, i hope you are 100% better before the trip rolls around. go MFD on his mac n cheese & big smiles! that's awesome. i love the way your dogs lay on you, hilarious. sorry about Geege though, poor thing. We had poop issues with Chelsea the other day, as in it got stuck to her and we had to give her a bath, which if you have ever met a cat.... they love those. yay.
