Winter Goals 2015

Even though it's been warm as hell in Philly, winter does officially begin on Monday. Winter is the second hardest season for me motivation-wise. Believe it or not, the first is summer. My winter season goals:

1. Make mozzarella cheese at home.

2. Weights 3x/week and walking once a week. I abandoned my program and need to get back up to speed. The only way I can do that is slowly!

3. Eat at Abe Fisher.

4. Reconfigure basement rooms and how we're using them. This will require purging and reorganization.

5. See sunrise in Cape Town.

6. Bake a carrot cake.

7. Get shore house listed and rented out for the summer.

8. Monthly massage - actually use the membership I have at Hand & Stone.

9. Try five recipes I have pinned on pinterest.

10. Go up to the Liberty One observation deck.

What are your winter goals?
I'll be reporting in on how I did on my fall goals tomorrow.

Happy weekend, friends!

  1. The recipes pinned on pinterest should be fairly easy for you!! I am sure the shore house is going to be rented all the time - it's perfect and you could show the sunrise pictures alone to get it rented lol! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  5. Like my gym membership, my membership to Hand and Stone is not getting used. I am pretty sure I am their ideal client...pays every month but doesn't actually use the service.

I've never made carrot cake but it is so so good as long as there are no raisins in it :-(

  6. I want to stay as warm as possible. Enjoy every second with Lola Jean the beauty queen LJBQ! Walk off my belly area. Continue to use affirmations. Continue to banish negative thoughts. Have patience with BooBoo ! Get a great Rosemary plant that thrives! Soak my tootsies in Epsom salts more frequently. And gratitude for all always especially when I am upset about something. Love. Your Momma!

  7. Great goals. I failed miserably at my fall goals so I didn't even do a list for the winter. I'm trying to just be more positive and not a negative nelly but it's really hard for me.

  8. As "first world problem-y" as it sounds, I have a tough time using my massages every month, too. I book them and then end up having something conflict, or I totally forget and can't get in for weeks with the person I want. I have one scheduled for today and I can't wait!

  9. Great list!I like the idea of setting goals to try new things, go new places etc. That is what life is all about and should always be included along with the practical goals like excercise, finances, etc. I never used to do this, makes the list more fun to work thru!

  13. You mean really MAKE mozerella cheese? I didnt know that was possible to do at home. You'll have to post about it.

I am reminded all the time my husband's ex-wife makes great carrot cake... she would send it over every year with the kids because she knew "it's his favorite" ... so when I hear carrot cake, I cringe a little... even though it was a layer in my wedding cake :) haha

  16. Mmmmm cheese! I (still) need to do some purging/reorganizing. I'm sure you will have no problems finding renters- the space looks great! Good luck on all your goals!

  17. I have zero winter goals so far. I would like to finish painting our kitchen and get rid of a ton of old crap we have around the house. Sunrise in Cape Town sounds amazing. Looking forward to the Instagram pics!

  18. Such a great list of goals- I definitely need to spend less time pinning recipes and more time making some of them. Also, I'm so intrigued by the cheese making one- can't wait to hear more about it when you get to that one. Happy Friday!!

  19. I love your list of goals here!!! I hope you share your experience with mozzarella cheese at home! I remember you posting about it awhile back. I always try to have a goal to try new recipes. I think I shit all over my fall goals. Mainly because I haven't look at them since October. Oops!

  21. I cannot even think of winter goals. I've been stressing over December goals, and December just whirled on, so there's that. My subconscious mind is considering goals, but it's up to me to listen and write that stuff out. AND WORK ON THEM. :)

I love when I can actually make the meals I pin on Pinterest :)

  22. It's always good to get re-motivated as the seasons change. How exciting that your S. Africa trip is approaching quickly! Can't wait to read about that and all your upcoming recipes. Carrot cake is a weakness of mine probably because of the frosting!

  23. I always say I want to try to make mozzarella at home. So basically you need to do it so I can see how it turns out.

  27. Ooohh making your own mozz!? I hope to see a blog post about that. Also will be really interested to see your shore house listing when you have it up and running. The house looks amazing and I've been wanting to book a place of my own for a week over the summer for years. Might be the perfect opportunity...
