I slept in until 8:30 Saturday, then set about doing the hated leaves. It was my third tango with the bastards. Six bags out back plus two out front, all done in winter gloves because I couldn't find gardening gloves and I'm not into touching worms or things dogs peed on with bare hands. I also finally got the remaining greenery out of the front flower beds, lugged a bunch of pavers the bunghole concrete people left all over the yard like we were the set of Sanford & Son, and moved all the furniture around out back. After that I rained hell down upon MFD's shit pits, where his mail and other stuff collects until I get rid of it. He's like wait, it was all trash? Yes. That's why it's called a shit pit. I changed sheets, put the down comforter on, washed all bedding, did five other loads of laundry, purged beauty products and made some headway in the reading room purging/organizing, and did a bunch of cooking. By 7 p.m. I was totally pooped and so were the dogs from monitoring my hausfrauing all day. I showered and read, which was a great way to spend a Saturday night in.
MFD was out at work and a music thing most of the afternoon and evening, but he did Gris it up when he got home Saturday night. The front window photo is courtesy of him, and the stockings have been hung with military precision. Do not touch, Santa.
Sometimes when I am very productive on a Saturday, Sunday is a slow start. That was the case this Sunday. But I put my big girl panties on and headed up the turnpike to the hell that is King of Prussia on a Sunday in December a few weeks before Christmas to enjoy a lovely, leisurely, two plus hour lunch with Marla of Luck Fupus, Brie of A Breezy Life, and Nicole of Nicole Marica. It's always nice to get some face time with my local blogging ladies. That little key lime pie down there was the shit. I was considering licking the tiny mason jar.
Weekly food prep: egg muffins with sausage, spinach, and cheese for breakfast; baked chicken thighs and sweet potatoes over spinach for Saturday dinner and lunches this week (I only need three); a double batch of power breakfast muffins for here and for Michelle and Bob; roast pork loin with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli for dinners; dog stew/poop soup for los perros (not pictured); and celery with peanut butter and frozen blueberries for snacks.
The dogs were extra clingy and cozy this weekend. With me...they were jacked off at MFD because he kept using the staple gun while decorating. He means serious business. He's not called Clark Griswold for nothing.
I hope all of my Jewish friends enjoyed the start of Hanukkah and that my parents enjoyed their wedding anniversary at the beach in Delaware this weekend!
Remember! Show Us Your Books tomorrow.
Remember (and honor) the 2,000+ victims killed in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor this day in 1941. You are not forgotten.
Looks like a great start to December!! Love how you guys hang your stockings! That's a lot of leaves you were able to pile up girl - you deserved that slow start on sunday! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteYour window looks so pretty and festive!
ReplyDeleteit's starting to look a lot like christmas 'round here too! you are doing life right with f/t work and shore house and then managing to tackle the leaves. i just sit there and drink my wine while trying to figure out how to get up and tackle all the organizing shit at my house now that work has ruined my life.
ReplyDeleteDecember is off to a great start. :-) The window is so pretty. I love your gallery wall! We still have to do our tree; hopefully this week.
ReplyDeleteI love the Christmas balls and lights in the windows. Filing that idea away...
ReplyDeleteI'm in need of a good clothes purge too.
This is sad but my husband has a headlamp like that too! Sometimes he wears it when he takes out the garbage at night and I just laugh at him from the window. I your husband's window display, it's so pretty! I left my house only two times this weekend and read a lot. It was awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely went to work this weekend with all of those chores! But it sounds and looks like it all paid off! Yay for waking up to all of the outside decor being done...headlamp needed or not haha
ReplyDeleteTons done for you. Thank Goddess we give mostly money gifts for Christmas and that we aren't hosting Christmas. New puppy and 2 older big dogs needing attention. Jmj
ReplyDeleteHave a happy week. Love. Your. Momma.
Looks like you had a very busy weekend so you deserved a slow start on Sunday. I love that MFD gets all up in the Xmas decorations, I am the same way. The pups look pissed in that one picture, dang staple gun.
ReplyDeleteYou worked your ass of this weekend, girl! I need to make my Monday similar to your Saturday. Also, it was so nice to see you, despite the piles of dishes on the table, LOL! It was a fantastic afternoon and I'm already ready for a repeat!
ReplyDeleteThat was quite a busy weekend. I'm tired just from reading it all. I love how you have the stocking hung! So perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think you should pimp Clark out... could make a fortune!
ReplyDeleteYou know... if MFD ever gets tired of his job, he could become an expert Christmas decorator. I saw his IG post on this yesterday and thought, "holy hell, that man is a genius." I figure the Pugs hate staple guns... to be fair, so I do. I stopped by the house this weekend... and oh dear lord, the leaves. SO MANY LEAVES. You have my sympathies.
ReplyDeleteTHAT'S WHY the flags are at half mast today. The child asked and I could not remember.
ReplyDeleteThat headlamp is ridiculous. I'm sure my husband would purchase one as well if he could find one.
I love the front window lights!
ReplyDeleteI am also impressed with his night vision light and Christmas ambition.
Love how you decorated your windows. So pretty! & your dogs are too cute!
ReplyDeleteWoah you got lots done this weekend. I love how the window decorations look. Very pretty! Your bloggers lunch sounds like a good time and great food.

MFD's hand lamp is epic!!! It looks like he means serious business. And you can tell because the window looks great! And sounds like you were a busy busy bee on Saturday! Just reading that paragraph has me exhausted! So many things you crossed off the list! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat mermaid warmer is so perfect for your shore house! I love your Christmas window and ceramic tree. We had a white one growing up. Do you have a fireplace? We don't so our stockings are hung on a bookcase with care. Haha! Jacob uses his headlamp all the time and it cracks me up, but it's so practical!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a fun weekend. I've never been to a Scentsy party, but have heard wonderful things about it. All of your decor is quite lovely and love the precision with the stockings.
ReplyDeleteAwesome start to December, and I love that you said MFD gris'd it up! Everything looks awesome :)
ReplyDeleteThat headlamp is serious business. Looking forward to the book linkup tomorrow, so I can add some new ones to my 2016 reading list!
ReplyDeleteThe three amigos do not look impressed in that above photo.
ReplyDeleteLoving that y'all Griswold'ed it up. I hope you stapled up the shit out of your roof as as to achieve the full blown Clark Griswold effect. My all time fave movies are the vacation series so props to you guys for being my heroes. :-D
Hooray for your BLATE! I know you love that word... ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you post another picture of Poop Soup? It looks so delicious!
He did an excellent job with that window!
ReplyDeleteYou made some serious headway on the purging it sounds like, great job! I love the headlamp and that he was still working when you went to be so it was all finished in the morning when you got up.
ReplyDeleteAww happy anniversary to your parents! I love your historical throwbacks because I barely keep up with recent things due to poor memory let alone, things that happened 74 years ago! :) Love your decorations, esp the ones on the window - super cute! Have a great one Steph! -Iva
ReplyDeleteoooh those stockings do look fancy, as do the decorations in the window. i do like that idea. our tree still isn't up, oops. love the headlamp for the outdoor decorations. the key lime pie looks delish, though i have never had one before, it sounds like i would like it. love scentsy, that mermaid warmer is fabulous!
