About that multi-level marketing stuff

We all have friends who are in multi-level marketing sales, and hopefully they let us know they are but don't inundate our social media feeds with posts about products 470 times a day. Because that causes us to hide them, which is counter productive to making sales. Some people hate MLM stuff completely, and the sometimes weird/cultish scripted sales posts confuse me but I have a lot of stuff from various places that I truly like. If someone can make a living off of a MLM sales approach or supplement their income, I say you go girl.

I never feel bad like I have to buy something and I have no problem saying no if I don't want or need what they're selling. You know me. I'm honest. I like what I like and when I don't like it, I'll tell you. I figure if I'm in the market for something, why not buy it from someone I know and help their bottom line a little? Most of us don't think twice about dropping $20-30 at Target or Sephora and you can rest assured your $20-30 doesn't mean nearly as much to them.

Below are some products I have and like and sellers I know. If you also sell something, feel free to leave your info in the comments for people to look through. There are no affiliate links here because I'm just telling you what I like, and I got no products for free or at a discount in exchange for inclusion in this list. When you click on a product, if will take you to the product, and when you click on a person's name, it will take you to their consultant web page.

1. Perfectly Posh
There's not much I don't love about nearly everything I've gotten from here. It's safe to say I'm pretty obsessed with Perfectly Posh at this time. I'm blown away at how good my notoriously assy skin responds to the two facial moisturizers I've been using: Moisturize 911 Caffeinated Face Cream and Apricots Overnight. I have the Daily Grind Snarky Bar, which is some serious exfoliating business that's perfect for my grossly dry winter skin. I adore the smell of Snarky Butter Skin Delicious, which leaves my skin super smooth and hydrated. I just got Impish De-Puffing Eye Serum (I can say the dispenser for this is a mess) and Never Grow Up Anti-Aging Serum but can't report on how well they work yet. I've gotten a Good Morning, Beautiful soap that smelled like lemon pledge so I can't recommend that. All made in the good ol' USofA.

Chelsie, my friend Patti's daughter, is my Posh dealer.

2. Rodan+Fields
I know people who have had awesome skin improvements with this stuff. I can't speak to that personally, but I can say their Reverse Sunblock SPF 50 has not made me break out once and is less greasy on my face than the Coppertone I was using. I also got a lot of blackheads with the Coppertone that I don't get with this. Sunblock is number one in my arsenal - in my opinion, if you don't use it religiously 365 days a year, you are pissing your money away on anything else you spend on your face  - and if it works I'll pay for it. Even when it's $41. This works.
Gena and Kristin from Stuff, Things, Etc. both sell R+F.

3, Younique
I am not a full face of makeup girl, but I do love me some lip products. I just got Lucrative Lip Gloss in Luxe and Moodstruck Opulence Lipstick in Upper Class. And I'm about to go back for a lipliner. Younique is famous for their 3D mascara and I know many who love it but I'm not one of them.

Jenn and Suzi sell Younique.

4. Scentsy
I love all things that smell good for the home. I recently bought the Very Snowy Spruce, By the Sea, and My Dear Watson scent bars but have had others (names I don't recall, of course) in the past that I've loved. They have one zillion scents. Nothing pisses me off more than scents that don't carry too much smell. Theirs pass my sniff test. I'm currently obsessed with their night warmers - nightlights that have scent on the top. Not your crappy plastic jobbys either, I got the vintage glass and love them. They're $20. At home, I have tin warmers that I got near Lori's house a zillion years ago. Scentsy warmers can be pricey, but I couldn't resist this one for the shore.
Amanda and Tina sell Scentsy.

5. Tupperware
Tupperware was everywhere when I was growing up. Then when I grew up, I could never find anyone who sells it. And now I have! Check out this classic sheer pitcher set and wonderlier bowl set - love the colors, and the pitchers remind me of childhood. I typically use glass or ceramic to store food that will be re-heated, but I still use plastic that I hand wash for stuff that's not heated. Tupperware is a brand I trust, and it'll survive nuclear war. Sold.
Arleen sells Tupperware.

6. Beach Body
I currently don't do this, but I freaking love what my friend Terri is doing with this on her facebook page and she looks awesome. She's making me think about exercise, that's for shit sure. If you want to check her out, you can visit her Beach Body page here.

Terri is a Beach Body Coach.

7. Thirty One
I have beaten my Thirty One bags into the ground. The large utility tote freaking rocks. This is where I keep my paper recycles, and I've also used one for transporting towels and sheets for vacation and when I'm bringing a lot of things to a party.

Noreen and Fran sell Thirty One.

8. Pampered Chef
You see my Brownie pan every week when I share the egg muffins I made for weekly food prep. I love it so much I own two. A million years ago when my friend Lauren sold it I bought a shit ton of stuff that I still use and love, most of it under $15 - the kernel cutter for corn, the large micro-cooker, the conversions magnet, the paring knife set, the all-purpose spreader, and the medium round pizza stone among other things. I love the $6 paring knife set more than my expensive knife set.

Betsy from Museum Fanatic sells Pampered Chef.

Do you use any products you bought from a friend? Any recommendations? Are you a seller?

p.s. Happy happy happy birthday to my Mimi today and to my Gamma tomorrow.

  2. I used to sell Beachbody so I have a shit ton of their DVD programs and still use them. I have a friend who sells Thirty One and I want one of their bags, they are so durable and cute.

  3. Aw, you're the best..thanks!
And I have no problem buying MLM products if I want it. Scentsy is one of my favorite things to stock up on...Rodan and Fields works for everyone in some way or another. But, you're right...I've felt pressured to buy things before and I hate that. Also, I never use the scripts. I can't sound fake. I'm bad at it.

  4. I use Beachbody, Scentsy and Pampered Chef. I actually had a Pampered Chef wedding shower that friend who sells threw and it was fantastic! I'd say probably 60% of my kitchen items are PC. And those paring knives are seriously amazing. They are my favorite thing! I just wish they made them in more fun colors. HAHA.

  5. I've bought things from Scentsy and also from Stella and Dot. Scentsy smells amazing, but I love my B&BW candles, so I feel like I don't utilize what I own enough. Stella and Dot is a jewelry company and they have some of the most amazing jewelry! I seriously can't get enough!

  6. I sell Jamberry, but I'm pretty terrible about advertising it. I mostly just wear my wraps, figure out cute ways to mix and match them (Usually a solid with two contrasting prints), and post them on social media. If we have good deals going on, I'll call people who've showed interest in the past, but mostly I just live and let live.

  7. Beach Body is definitely a great program. I feel like everyone is a coach, though haha. I love their products and have seen results from two of their programs that I've used.

  8. As you know, I love me some Posh. I use both those moisturizers and LOVE them. I also just got the eye de-puffing serum. I may have to check out that Reverse sunblock. My SIL used to sell Pampered Chef so we have a bunch of that both from purchasing and as gifts. And I have quite a few 31 things, including an overnight bag that has been well worth the money.

  9. Pampered Chef is my jam! I love so many of their products and have people ask me all the time why I don't sell it...I just like having the parties not doing the work, lol. Tupperware was the same for me. We finally found a lady that sells it at the Military Base of all places AND she's into pink so I bought a ton of her pink stuff *cackles*. Made in the USA Posh stuff is new to me and I'm headed there now, bye! Thanks for this list and I hope you have a fab weekend!

  10. I was just bitching to a friend about people on Facebook who sell stuff and constantly post about or the absolute worse is when they add you to a "party" on Facebook and it takes me forever to figure out how the hell to get out of it. The absolute worst right now is someone selling Stella and Dot stuff. Obnoxious. But, I am totally in awe of people who can make near full-time incomes doing this. Good for them, because man, that is not something I could no. Saleswoman I am not.

I have some Scentsy stuff I got as a gift that I really like. And the Younique mascara scares me. I haven't seen it look great on anyone so far.

  11. I have never heard of Perfectly Posh but their packaging is so cute that I may have to go check them out! Love that Scentsy nightlight but I can't have scents that close to the asthmatic cat.

  12. I love the Tupperware bowls! Grateful forever that I can put any sunblock on my face. Very nicely done for your MLM friends.
Making a living from home is my favorite thing. Happy weekend to all! Love. Your. Momma.

  13. Oh I love me some tupperware!! I had a friend who sold Stella and Dot and I bough a few things. They have some cute stuff.

  14. Just say no to posting MLM crap ALL over social media! It makes me not want to buy it and I've unfollowed people. Just have separate IG or FB accounts for it!!! I've never heard of Perfectly Posh! I can't handle those 3D lashes either. I'm all about Scentsy because of the kids/candle situation and I like Jamberry. My friend recently started selling Tupperware so I need to take a look. I just found out about Usborne Books (books for kids) a few months ago and may have gone overboard for Christmas this year. I also just learned about KEEP Collective, which is customizable watches and bracelets and just bought a cute watch.

  15. love this round up! I really like scentsy- such a powerful scent! going to check out your links right now.

  16. Tupperware is the best. The only thing about it, though, is it lasts so well that you really don't ever have to buy it again, so not so good for the sales reps lol.

    ReplyDelete
  17. This is a great round up! I don't have a problem with MLM companies. I used to sell Traveling Vineyard and LOVED it. I try to not judge the product based on the seller but sometimes people just don't know when to stop trying to sell.

  18. I just became a Beachbody Coach a few months ago when 21 day fix has me shedding over 30+ lbs... I have used their products for years so I finally gave in to the coaching for the discount :)

I actually love most of the products that this list includes. I'll try anything once it seems :)

I forgot about Tupperware - didnt even know that was still a thing.

  19. Essential oils! Hahaha. I finally caved to the Young Living girls at my work. I am obsessed though. And they make a shit ton of money it is amazing! I sold avon for a while. My sister sold Scentsy and I loved it. The one thing I don't love is Jamberry. Those nail thingys make me crazy.

Going to check out Perfectly Posh now!

  20. Anytime I need kitchen stuff I just go to Betsy. There's nothing I've ever gotten from Pampered Chef that I didn't like or didn't think was worth the price. It's all really good and well made.
I tried Scentsy but it wasn't my thing. They worked great and I see the appeal, but I still like my candles. Changing scents is easier with candles.

  21. Thanks for the love!! I'm glad you love your pans!! I keep telling myself I need to use my Brownie pan and do the breakfasts like you make, haven't yet but it's on my 101 list!

  22. I love Tupperware and have a few Pampered Chef things that we use all the time too. One of my friends just started selling Jamberry so I have bought a few wraps & hosted a party and I like it but it's not an everyday thing for me. I can't get into Scentsy because 2 of my family members are highly sensitive to scents, but I do like the concept!!!

  23. I have purchased a lot of Thirty-One, Pampered Chef, Tupperware and am currently addicted to 3 Younique eye shadows that I pretty much wear every day. MLM is a great way to make some cash and a lot of these companies have really well done and thought out product. I'm a fan!

  24. I love pampered chef. They have this great pitcher that has a mixer in the handle. I loved it so much I bought a replacement after my first one got grody after 10 years.

  25. What bothers me about the MLM stuff is the being added to groups without my consent. Tell me you're selling it and then let me decide.

I'm happy to hear that you like the Perfectly Posh stuff. My cousin's wife sells it and I'm glad she's doing something for herself (they have a severely disabled child and she spends a good part of her life attending to his needs). Eventually I'll buy something. Once my debit card stops screaming bloody murder.

  26. We were talking about this on Sunday. I don't mind it, and hey, if you make money, more power to you. Yes, the 3426487264 posts on my newsfeed are annoying, but that's what that nice "block" button is for. I love that you used this post to support your friends. I may look into that sunblock, a friend sells R&F

  27. Thirty One products are seriously amazing. Some of these I've never heard of but look really interesting, so thanks for sharing. I've been curious about Rodan + Fields for a while too, glad to hear it gets your approval.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I haven't heard of Perfectly Posh. I have a large thirty one tote like that and I use it for everything. It is the best thing ever!!! I have so many people that flood my facebook with Rodan Fields that I have refused to try it on principle lol. I have done a few Beach Body programs like T25 and Body Beast and they were both amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I really love Thirty One and Pampered Chef. I don't mind going to those parties at all because there's usually food and booze. I know it must be hard to be a direct sales person. I've also ordered from Stella and Dot and a jewelry company that I can't remember the name of for the life of me (it's not lia sophia). I have yet to try Scentsy, will have to check that out.

  30. I'm a Mary Kay consultant, but I'm not a very aggressive one. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I totally agree with you... I have definitely hid people and it's counterproductive to what they're trying to do. I like it best when people make a separate page... because then if people are truly interested, they can check it out - but people aren't inundated with a million posts a day either if they don't want to be.
The only one of these that I've tried is Pampered Chef... and I do love them! I've been curious about Younique but have yet to take the plunge.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Scentsy is definitely the best. I love Pampered Chef too. Their stuff is great quality and lasts forever!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't think I've heard of any of these except for maybe Scentsy and Tupperware. I have hidden people before that post about their shop repeatedly. They're actually good shops, though. That Perfectly Posh stuff looks like something I would be into.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The ones that scare me are the Essential Oil MLMs. Salespeople should not be telling people what to do with EOs. They're dangerous when used incorrectly. I had a friend diffusing something that could cause seizures in kids. namely her kids. I just keep telling people "please don't drink them unless a trained aromatherapist goes over things with you." I like pampered chef stuff but none of my friends sell them. I would be cool with jamberry if I could figure out how to get them to lay flat! I have super cute wraps to use. The things I don't like about posh and scentsy is that I'm super scent-sitive (lol) so I never know if the smells will be ok or not. I can't smell through the computer screen, though maybe technology will get there one day!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't get bothered by the MLM stuff except the Pluxus people. Particularly the one who keeps sending me direct messages on FB asking me if I want to lose weight. I always want to respond and say, "are you trying to tell me something?! Are you calling me fat? Do I look like I need to lose weight?!" or some other equally awkward response because.... really?! I haven't ever responded and you keep sending me stuff implying I need to lose weight.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't mind these sort of "side hustles" either unless they hound me. Thankfully most know I won't buy unless I am super into it! I do like Scentsy and Beach Body is really inspiring but WAY out of my price range. I may have to try the Younique glosses...I was not a fan of the mascara either.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love my 31 bag too. I'm a big fan of a lot of these kinds of things because I get to support a friend and usually get to try something out. I love Beauty Counter for skin care stuff. I'm intrigued by Jamberry but haven't tried it. And I just signed up to be a beach body coach - mostly for my own discount, but if things really work out for me with the program I'm starting, I'll share with others. We'll see (fingers crossed.) I'm definitely going to check out some of the others you've shared. What a great idea to put these out there.

    ReplyDelete
  38. i am so intrigued by all of these things but don't have the desire to try any of them (yet). i'd never heard of posh, that sounds interesting. i do quite like pampered chef, my mother in law always buys me stuff from there.

    ReplyDelete
  39. well, you are in a better position than me to handle it. My issue is that I feel personally bad when friends/acquaintances seek me out to buy something they're shilling because, often times, I'm not interested at all but feel awful saying no to them. Like I really don't want really expensive candles or crazy expensive jewelery. Idk, that's my problem with it. I just feel like I have to buy something (because you're right, I do want to help their bottom line!), so that's where I hate it. And just because it seems like everyone is selling the same stuff now. But you're right, it's nice to help a friend and that's not why it's hard.
