Friday night I had to work late and didn't get home until after 7. MFD was away for the weekend so I locked the doors, made naughty nachos, and sunk into Luther. Ruth Wilson is insane and awesome and not enough can be said about Idris Elba.
Saturday morning I did a Target run for fun things like doormats and new glass water bottles and not fun things like toilet paper and sports bras. I came home to construction.
Yes, we are getting the backyard concrete done the week we go on vacation. We like to live on the edge. By we I mean MFD because this project so close to departure is stressing me the fuck out. There's no fence on one side right now so it's like playing goalie to the dogs. Not fun. I did get assurances that it was going to be poured today. If it's not, you will hear my scream this evening no matter where you are in the world.
I met my BFFs Debbie and Michelle for lunch at Las Margaritas for a late celebration of Debbie's birthday.
Before lunch I went to Marshalls. It was a bad one so I didn't expect the homegoods section to be awesome but it was. So I went back after lunch and secured things for a future decor project, including a clearance table I had to drag all over the store because they only had small carts. I was tempted to go to another Marshalls after that but told myself to slow my roll. Instead I came home, got in bed without dinner and watched more Luther. Then I was hungry at 9:30 p.m. so I had cookies and milk. Not nutritious but quite delicious.
Sunday I did the typical hausfrauing (sheets and towels and blah blah blah) and started packing for our trip. I'm waiting on the Amazon delivery of more e-bags packing bags but everything is laid out in the spare room and a lot of stuff is in the suitcase. I'm pumped. Do you guys print and bind your itinerary and confirmations or am I the only dork? I typically have it in my planner and phone but am worried about the lack of WiFi everywhere so I figured I'd be safe and have it all in hand.
Doing a house project while you are away would stress me out too. Great score at Marshall's, love that you went back for a second trip. I usually print my confirmations but it looks like you not only bound it but there are tabs!! I bow to you queen!
ReplyDeleteLove that doormat!
ReplyDeleteLOVE e-bags packing bags. I will never travel without them. They are a game changer. How many sets do you use for a long trip?
ReplyDeleteI still haven't started Luther but it's on the list!! Have so much fun on your trip and I have no clue what e-bags are so i have to google that! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteCookies and milk! I need your itinerary ! Need to keep track of my traveling chickens. They don't call it the Wild West
ReplyDeleteFor nothin' , partner. What an adventure you will have.
Home goods section of Marshalls is the best!
Accomplish all you need and want to accomplish easily and happily always. Love. Your. Momma
I do a powerpoint that I print and put in a folder with everything. It's sick, really. But I am so excited to follow your trip. Where you are going is on my bucket list so I look forward to hearing your commentary on everything. Also, Geez. Louise. on the backyard/fence. I would definitely lose sleep over that.
ReplyDeleteMarshalls and their home goods section get me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!
ReplyDeleteI would be stressed if half my fence were down and I was playing dog goalie too. I did figure out the other day if Seven makes her great escape and you open the car door she jumps in because she thinks she's going for a ride. Now if it were only so easy to catch Salem when he makes a run for it.
ReplyDeletelol... naughty nachos!
ReplyDeleteI feel for you with the concrete. Ever since working in property management and seeing what a pain in the ass that kind of shit really is, I prob would've left the cracks. lol
I made nachos on Friday night too! House projects always stress me out, one of the few bonuses of being broke is that there are none! I am making a concerted effort to avoid Homegoods like the plague right now... all the Fall things!!!!
ReplyDeletehaha i do that too with my itinerary. i have a giant folder and when i take it out, everyone looks at me and tells me to go digital. nope; using paper is way easier instead of having to scroll for shit!
ReplyDeleteI totally still print out my itinerary just in case. Plus, I like writing mine out. I'm totally avoiding going to Home Goods, they have had some great stuff lately. That is not very good for my wallet.
ReplyDeleteI love the home section in TJ Maxx as well... & the pet aisle. We load up on toys & natural treats there.
ReplyDeleteI hate all things construction. We're talking about doing a kitchen re-do & it just freaks me out about the process. I want to be on a show that puts me in a hotel & covers my eyes to walk into a new finished kitchen. Too much to ask?
Target had so much cute home decor when I was there this weekend. I wanted to buy a bunch but decided I should wait until I actually unpack what I have.
ReplyDeleteOmg LOL about wanting to go to another Marshall's after leaving one. I seriously just did that ALL OVER TOWN here with TJ Maxx and Marshall's just for home goods. I seriously went to like 50 versions of the same store and J was gonna kill me. So funny, I so know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteI laughed about the screaming, ha! Construction can be such a pain and with 3 dogs- omg you need your face back!
I'm excited to hear about your trip!! Yayyyyyer, vacation! I feel like you just were on vacation from my vantage point. So go you.
Ahhhh TJ Maxx and Marshall's are so my jam for all their home decor! Why does it seem that when they are good, they are REALLY good and you want all the things?!?! Not friendly to the wallet. Best wishes on your construction, I hope to not hear your scream.
ReplyDeleteWhat are e-bags? I have never heard of these things. I don't print anything out unless absolutely necessary. Case in point: I leave Wednesday and can't even find the email with my flight details without doing an inbox search.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for throwing in the little bit of Hebrew :) I love seeing that.
I have trip "folders" for all of our trips, including flight and hotel confirmations, maps, day activities (completely scheduled out), restaurants and breweries near by and all that jazz. So you aren't a dork. Or at least we're dorks together!
ReplyDeletei haven;t been to marshalls in forever and i need to remedy that. i LOVE that doormat. so so cute!
ReplyDeleteI always print directions, confirmations for hotels/flights too- you just never know when Wifi will go out, a phone will die, something gets messed up in the system, etc. Totally with you on that! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're awesome for binding your plans and stuff together! It's a great back up. Plus, pulling paper out is sometimes faster than unlocking your phone and finding the app that it's on. Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteI need more info on these e-bags and how they're contributing to your packing situation.
ReplyDeleteI really hope you are going to blog about your trip because I am so so jealous! Many of the Western states are on my list of states I still need to visit to hit all 50. I would love to do a giant road trip someday (without kids).
ReplyDeleteStill living with my mom is really putting a cramp in my Marshall's/TJ Maxx/HomeGoods style. So much to buy, no house to put it in. I guess the upside is I'm saving money?
The girls lunch date sounds fun and good luck with your backyard project. That's awesome you'll be off on vacation soon! I'm definitely a believer in milking your free time to travel and see new things. Hope the week is speedy for you!
ReplyDeleteHope the concrete got poured for you today ;-)
ReplyDeleteI finally made the switch to a glass water bottle this week too, and I'm loving it! Jealous of your vacay countdown, I still have a little more than a month.
You are totally living life on the edge. I laughed at the image of playing goalie with the pugs. They seem awfully mellow so it's hard to picture. ENJOY VACATION!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I hope the concrete was poured today. I didn't hear any screams, so I'm assuming it went as planned. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI didn't bind my itinerary and confirmations when I went to Europe last November, but I made sure we printed off two copies of everything. Yes, I'm a huge dork as well who was worried that we might not be able to use our phones everywhere (even though we paid extra that month for an international plan on both our phones). Beyond that, though, I worried we might misplace our stuff (or have a piece of lost luggage), so we put them in two separate locations. It was probably overkill, but we made it there and back safely and never missed any of our previously scheduled tours/events!
The binding made me laugh! You are always ahead of the pack with organization skills. The Mexican food picture made my mouth water. It's lunchtime, and my leftovers don't seem nearly as appealing now.
ReplyDeleteSeeing the cute welcome mat you got at Target is making me want to run out right now and start decorating my place there. I may have to stop on my way home from work tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever even heard of Luther, but after watching Ruth Wilson on The Affair, I'd definitely give it a shot.I love her. Super cute "hello" mat! I definitely still print out itineraries and confirmations! And TripTiks if I know we're going somewhere remote where our phone maps will cut out. I put them all in a cute travel document wallet so I feel very old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteI need those glass water bottles in my life. I'm both envious and impressed with your vacation packing skills. Do you pack MFD's bag also? And more importantly, will you pack mine for any and all future trips lol
ReplyDeleteI have a gift card to Marshalls but I'm currently avoiding it like the plague since I'm on limited income with student teaching and I'd blow way too much money there lol
ReplyDeleteLuther is EVERYTHING!!!!! Enjoy
