Thursday night I had awesome mail to open before I left - the newest Judy Blume from the Literary Ladies Book Club girls and library card and pug socks from Mod Cloth. Debbie and I set out at 6:30 and the dogs were total assholes the entire ride. After 15 minutes, I said good Lord I swear the ride feels like four hours already. Alas, it was not. Debbie wrangled Mae for the entire nearly three hour ride, and we arrived around 9:30, saw the blue moon, and promptly passed out.
My darling dearest Gus decided to get up at 4. I kept him at bay until 5, but then it was time to get up. Once I saw what waited outside, I wasn't too mad. Lori and I got the food and beer shopping out of the way early too, which was great.
Jenn and Melissa arrived before noon, and we set out to float. I got in the freaking lake without a wet suit or lake shoes, you guys. And I floated. And didn't mind it. We had the lake pretty much to ourselves Friday, and it was pretty sweet. Let me tell you paddling around out there is a bit of a workout. Good thing since Friday morning alone I ate swedish fish, a donut, and fried chicken. Yikes and also YOLO. And why yes, I do have video of Melissa threatening me for videoing as I laugh like a maniac after her new raft Big Pink deflated in the middle of the lake.
Boat rides happened both nights with Captain Lori at the helm.
Saturday morning we headed into Montrose for a little look around.
It was mimosa and gabbing o'clock when we got back.
We floated away the afternoon again. Hijinks include Jenn capsizing on a raft while holding her beer aloft, dockside food service, and Mae really getting into the spirit of girls' weekend and getting out on the lake with Auntie.
Lori got us pizza and we lazed around before spur of the moment deciding it was ice cream time. I went on this adventure in my pajamas, sans bra. If you like to judge people who go out in public in pajamas, look no further. The buck stops here. The summer fuck it phase continues.
Sunday morning there was fog rolling across the lake and it was awesome. I took eleventy billion photos. When it was clear, Jenn and I went for a canoe ride. My first and only time on a canoe was Memorial Day weekend but Sunday I was out there steering that shit like a boss. Thanks to Jack for the good lessons.
We made an exception for the boy dogs. They all had a blast, they love the lake house.
Lots of laughs, lots of floating, lots of talks, lots of flip flops, lots of beautiful lake views, and one majestic eagle. I love these ladies. Thanks so much to Lori for hosting.
All good things must come to an end. I was home by two on Sunday and spent the afternoon inside with the dogs, away from the heat. I meant to be super productive but was only about half successful - I made egg muffins for breakfasts, Sunday sauce/spaghetti/broccoli/garlic bread for dinner, and took out some chicken to thaw for the week.I have lunch plans Monday and Tuesday but will do salads the rest of the week. I ordered groceries, changed the sheets, washed sheets and towels, paid bills, and picked up a bit around the house. Boring hausfrau shit, you know.
I truly hope every one of you has the gift of friendship in your life. You can't top it.
I have to wish one of our best friends, Evan, a very happy birthday. He celebrated it yesterday. If you're looking for a photographer in the PA/NJ area, Evan's your guy. Check out the Evan Leslie Images web page here and facebook page here. Ev does a lot of weddings, maternity (he worked for a maternity magazine, he's the real deal), and kid shoots (he is phenomenal with kids) but I've had him do head shots for my firm and he's great at commercial work too. The consummate professional. Give him a ring.

Looks like it was an awesome weekend! And that ice cream cone looks amazing!! I'm super jealous, I don't really have girlfriends to go and do things like that with.
ReplyDeleteAhh, this is like the epitome of the perfect "Summer is almost over, but not quite!" weekend!
ReplyDeleteI need to do some boring hausfrau shit as well, OMG that lake house weekend sans showering looks like such a great weekend! Mimosas all around, and going to the store in pajamas is liberating. I'm not to the sans bra state...as I used to wear one to bed until about 1-2 years ago so that would be pushing it for me, haha!
ReplyDeletethe best!!! even better that you have some amazing friends to share a relaxing weekend with. i wish i was somewhere that required long sleeves and pjs.
ReplyDeletesounds like an incredible weekend! weekend away with friends are a must in life and i'm glad your pups had a blast as well :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful people, pugs, and weather. Can't ask for more.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to think of a way to kick out K and Tyson so I can have a whole girls only weekend. I'm going to figure this shit out because you keep posting about all of your awesome weekends and it's motivation!! :)
ReplyDeleteI want a weekend that was like this so bad! Looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I am so looking forward to doing a girls weekend with my friends. Hopefully we will get to go next year for a casino/eating/drinking/relaxing in Connecticut. The lake looks beautiful! So glad you guys had such a great time.
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely perfect weekend and tradition to have with your friends! I loved seeing your morning coffee with the gorgeous views!!! Looks like weather was incredible too! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a great girls weekend at the lake. The weather was so nice. Girls weekend's are always fun.
ReplyDeleteThere's really nothing better than a few days water-side. Especially if a boat ride is included. Glad you got to enjoy what sounds like an absolutely perfect weekend getaway.
ReplyDeleteStunning pictures! Especially the sky and clouds reflecting on the lake.Glad you girls had the best weekend !
ReplyDeleteLove, your MOMMA
That looks like such a perfect weekend. The views are gorgeous & it sounds so relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI fail at weekend photography. You're the best at it.
ReplyDeleteAnd homemade red sauce is ALWAYS something to be thankful for.
I'm on the waiting list for that Judy Blume book. 4 people ahead of me...
Did you read the Judy Blume yet?? I am undecided on it.
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of your friends weekend...I so need one, but everyone either just had a baby or is about to have one!
You have to tell me how the Judy Blume book is. As always, looks like another faboosh weekend for the books. Lori's house looks amazing, and I was loving seeing it all unfold on the IG this weekend.
ReplyDeleteeven though you were up WAY too early, that picture of the lake is well worth it. floating the lake sounds perfect- sounds like you spent most of the weekend on a raft or canoe. so nice to have people that welcome you into their home
ReplyDeleteI saw your pictures on Insta this weekend and it looked like you had a really great and relaxing weekend! I need a friends weekend soon! Thankfully I'll have one in a couple of weeks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great girls weekend! It sounds exactly like it should: junk food, floating, drinks, pjs, no bras! Hahah. And gorgeous pictures! I can't believe the skies the entire time. I love those library card socks!
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful sunrises make getting up before dawn all the more enjoyable. Love all the fur kidlets enjoying themselves. ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a really nice weekend was had by all. :)
Oh my gosh your pictures are amazing! Sounds like such a great weekend and it's awesome you get to bring your dogs there. That's always the hardest part of leaving town for me. Makes me want a lake weekend so bad!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing girls weekend!!!! I love that you guys make it a point to meet up and have a weekend like that. And I am sure the dogs don;t mind you going when they get to tag along! Gus was just waking you so you didn't miss the pretty scenery, obviously! I love Mae floating in the lake!
ReplyDeleteThose pug socks are magical.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun! The scenery is so gorgeous. Obviously I need to make friends with someone who has a lake house.
ReplyDeleteSo much pretty!!!!! I love all of this. The lake looks perfect, the dogs are adorable and pizza followed-up with ice cream = YES. glad you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteSO nice that you can go to either house and the dogs are welcome. Definitely a blessing!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing weekend with the girls! Floating during the day, and boating at night sounds like perfection. And I love that the doggies got to go! <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice vacation with the girls! I really need to plan something like this soon. No makeup, PJs, some drinks and friends sounds like perfection....
ReplyDeleteso many good photos - and that ice cream! i want.
ReplyDeletei've said it a few times (broken record) that i am so jealous of your long standing friendships, and while i wish i had friends i've known that long, i am quite happy with the ones i've got and wish we could do stuff like this. the other day i went to my besties house to help her sell things on ebay and i was there for like 12 hours, in sweats, eating pizza, holding her kid and watching HGTV. it was awesome.
hope you like the judy blume book! i can't wait to read it :)
I saw someone post about that judy blume book yesterday on Insta.. definitely need to add it to my reading list!

This weekend is so something I need! It sounds so amazing! I am glad you have such wonderful friends to do this with!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend looks amazing. Floating, mimosas and ice cream pj runs. It's like the perfect summer weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis post actually made me cry. I know you didn't mean for it to. Sometimes, it is very, very difficult to live so far away from people that you've know all your life (or 20 year friendships), and now is one of those times for me. I am envious of your fabulous weekend, but I appreciate that you are so grateful for these friends and these times shared.
ReplyDeleteThis made me yearn for a weekend on the lake. I haven't had one (and most likely won't) this year! There's something about going with all your closest girlfriends and just having a good time. I definitely have to make it a priority next year.
ReplyDeleteLove all the pictures!! This sounds/looks like an absolute blast! I really like the sunrise/cloud shots, so neat with the reflection!
ReplyDeleteIt just looks divine!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend looks like it was fabulous. I love the lake way more than the ocean/beach, so I'm very, very jealous and ready for my lake trip coming up at the end of the month!
ReplyDeleteLOVE weekends like this!!! My girlfriend's in-laws have a cottage within walking distance from a lake and we usually do a group trip twice a year... once in the summer and once in the winter. They're some of my favorite getaways ever. :) I love that Mae got in on the lake action, too! lol
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it was an amazing weekend! Glad you had a chance to enjoy yourself and recharge.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling relatively cool and relaxed just looking at your photos. That lake sure is beautiful... and Gus, well, he can't help himself... he was excited about ladies weekend too! ;) YOLO
ReplyDeleteThat looks and sounds like an amazing time. Very similar to my vacation. No showers, lounging all day, walking on the beach and just chilling with framily. They sure do make for the best vacations. The pups sure look like they enjoyed themselves.
ReplyDeleteI also feel very fortunate in the friend department. Although many of them now live far away, we still make an effort to keep in touch and see each other when we can. Weekends with close friends are amazing ... There's always so much to do and say, and you come home feeling like maybe it's okay that you ate and drank whatever you wanted because surely all the laughing gave you an intense ab workout. (Or am I the only one who sees it that way? Haha.)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures, as always!
