Yesterday a few coworker friends and I walked a block and a half to Dilworth Park, joining hundreds of strangers for an impromptu visit from Stevie Wonder. We ducked out after a speech on love and a song. I love you Stevie, but standing in a sweaty crowd with no air flow and body odor on the rise is not for me.
City Hall, that was the best place to be. Open those old windows and listen to some sweet Stevie crooning.
Despite the heat, humidity, crowds. and BO, it was still a nice surprise on a Monday afternoon. There aren't enough nice surprises on Monday afternoons, are there? I appreciated this one.

Haikuesday
Hot days bring fresh fears:
Body odor in a crowd.
Nose and soul perish.

That's so cool! And also good that you knew about it. I'm always the person that hears about these things just after said event happens. At least I'd have missed out on the BO though.... Yeuch.
ReplyDeleteI love that he did that yesterday. I think he hit DC in the AM and finished in Central Park. It was freaking hot yesterday though.
ReplyDeleteSo true. Not enough surprises on Monday afternoons. Now... How did you find out about this impromptu visit? I'm sitting here thinking about the logistics of it, and I'm actually really impressed he did it! I like it!!
ReplyDeleteSo true about the surprises...what a wonderful twist on a Monday afternoon!

Nose and soul perish. LMAO
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to see him for at least one song!
That's pretty cool! Surprise concerts and stuff like that were so much fun when I worked in the city. I miss that.
ReplyDeleteUgh... sweaty crowds. Bring on the fall already. Stevie Wonder is a pretty cool surprise though!
ReplyDeleteMonday surprises are the best! Anything to make the day furthest away from Friday more bearable.
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely cool is that - pretty epic to see him play! xo, biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome! Minus the aromas.
ReplyDeleteI love that you went to check it out, though! Totally agree on few things being worth crowds and hassle but it's still really cool.
ReplyDeletethat IS a great surprise! How awesome! I also was flatlining in the first picture thinking of Stevie Nicks and was looking all over the photo to find her, lol. Idiot.
ReplyDeleteLove the haiku!
Nice impromptu music sesh! Makes Monday that much better!
ReplyDeleteWHAT!? this is the absolutely coolest!! you got to see a legend, that's awesome.
ReplyDeleteLOL at the B.O. - it's seriously no joke sometimes! But yay for an impromptu fun concert, and on a Monday no less! Awesome :-D
ReplyDeleteUgh, smelly crowds! Gross! What an awesome delight for a Monday though!!! More days should be filled with this.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a fun surprise! All the other people taking photos and videos in your photo make me laugh...Photo or it didn't happen!
ReplyDeleteYes, good surprises on Mondays are always welcome! I'm not a fan of standing in a crowd of sweaty people either!
ReplyDeletei saw that he's also playing in toronto at a similar event as well. with the heat and crowds, um no. i'll listen to the live coverage on TV at home.
ReplyDeleteImpromptu performance?! Does Philly have many of these happen? Because that's pretty freakin' awesome. Except the body odor part.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great treat, thought the BO and crowds would kill it for me too.
ReplyDeletewow! what an awesome surprise. i would have escaped from the BO as well, ew.
ReplyDeleteAww Stevie!! Must have been amazing to see him - but I agree with sweaty crowds - not for me.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty awesome there was an impromptu concert. I love when those happen in the city. On Friday's in the summer there's a concert every week on my way to work. I was able to catch OAR this year.
ReplyDeleteDespite the sweaty, smelly crowd, this is a really cool way to spend even a small part of your Monday afternoon. The haiku at the end of this post is pure gold.
