August Recommendations

Hello hello friends! You know the drill. Skimmers, recommendations are in bold (and typically clickable). Debbie and MFD are joining me this month as we're a mere six days away from their birthday - both of them are September 1 babies.

1. Be nice. Don’t be an asshole.  Life is too short and precious. Spend your time productively and be nice to people.  Karma is a bitch!

2. Be grateful for what you have. There are so many people who have less than you do.

3. Be courageous and confident. Don’t let obstacles or nay-sayers stand in your way of getting what you want. Go get it!

4. Walk more. I have been walking up and down 5 flights of stairs at work every day during the week. I find it relaxing, I feel better and gets me away from my desk. I also think it’s fun when co-workers are trying to find me!!  LOL

5. If you can, travel. Get out and visit places you’ve never been. Whether it’s by planes, trains, or automobiles, traveling and discovering new places is wonderful!!  I’ve learned so much through my travels!

1. Voltage RB12 Series hand painted fishing lure. Bought it at Dicks. The interwebs and fishing chatrooms all have success with this bait. Happy fishing!

2. Sugar-free Cherry Red Bull. It is great. It is sugar free. It is like, a really good thing!!! Enjoy it!

3. Langhorne Settlement Services. For all your title needs. I started a Title company. Now I need to promote and advertise. Might as well start here.

4. Light & Fit Greek Yogurt. It is good. Doesn't have that gross, Greek yogurt taste thing going on. I really don't like Greek yogurt, but this is good.... Nice and smooth.
5. Beta Max Video Machines. No, sike... I am kidding. Beta Max sucks. VHS only. Can you believe someone is trying to get $900 for a Beta Max player???

1. I Love Your Dress from Modcloth. Really, that's what it's called. I have this dress in two colors - olive and plum - and I'm not above buying more. When I find something I really like, I will buy it in many colors (see also: more than 10 variations of pixie pants from Old Navy). This dress is comfortable and if you throw a cardigan over it boom, it's winter worthy.

2. Bookwormboutique.com - I have purchased a lot of shit from here. Hint: mugs and t-shirts. It's a dangerous place for me to visit. For all of your not really needs needs.
One of the mugs I got.
3. Sink Caddy Large Tidy Station - A sink caddy? Lame! Come on. Hush. I don't care. I hate a messy sink area.

4. Dryer sheets for baseboards - Hated chore, I know. For me too. Snap a dryer sheet onto a broom and use it to clean your baseboards. No bending down and the anti-static in the sheet helps repel dust & dog hair from the baseboards.

5. Cucumber and potato chip sandwiches - I have loved this combination since I was a child. Try it.

Lay it on me - what are you recommending this month?

Today's gratitudes:
1. The ability to go to sleep early if I choose.
2. Finding a series of books with a character I like
3. People who will go along with my blog requests

  1. I am terribly scared to click on the bookwormboutique.com link. I will want it ALL.

Sugar-free cherry red bull?!? Are you kidding me?!?! Damn Australia and their lack of variety on some things. I can choose red bull or sugar free red bull. I don't get no stinkin' cool flavor options like sugar free cherry!

I AM however going to check out if we have that Greek yogurt available. That's a possibility.

  2. That sink caddy is pretty genius - we usually have a few things around there, but you're right this would make it way more organized!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  8. Sink caddies!!! I have a cute holder that I love near mine. Haha, you weren't kidding with your love of bookworm boutique!! Telling my dad about that lure, he's always looking!! I love finding a new clothing item in multiple colors that fits perfectly!!

  9. I freaking love that dress. This is why I can't read these posts from you - you always find something I want!

  10. I've actually never tried the greek yogurt that your husband is recommending. Will have to buy it because I hate the after taste of some greek yogurts. The cucumber and potato chip sandwich is something else I have to try now! The only thing I have to recommend lately is Wayfair.com but I know everyone already knows about it! I've found some great deals on there.

  11. So the fishing lure should be a big hit today as well as Beta Max machines, I bet Amazon sells out.

I have the book worm shop open in another tab, I should not look but I'm going to anyway!

  12. That looks like such a comfy dress! I'm sure it's flattering on a bunch of body types...

  13. Haha fishing chat rooms? I mean of course they exist but I never would have thought about them. Love that dress and also the sink caddy... I'm not sure if it will fit in the space I have for it but if it does, I may be sold.

  14. BRB, just gonna go give all my money to that bookworm site.

  15. I've never heard of cucumbers and potato chips...I will have to try that sometime. I've heard of the dryer sheet/baseboard tip at home but never tried it. Good to know it works....now it probably won't work on dirt that's been sitting there for 6 years but that's a different story haha

  16. I hate a messy sink area too, so it all stays under the sink...

  17. So I'm adding that sink caddy & that green dress to my wish list :)

  18. I love the Light & Fit Greek yogurt so good, low in calories and carbs. I added Bookworm Boutique to my Instagram but now I need to peruse and buy all the things!!!

  19. Amen, Debbie - just be nice. I LOL'd at MFD saying, "sike" ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Tell MFD to try the Yoplait Greek Yogurt Whips in Strawberry Cheesecake. Game changer.
I like to use Swiffer wipes on our baseboards... I'm gonna have to run some dryer sheets along them after.

  21. Cucumber potato chip sandwiches sound right up my alley. Yum!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I agree with MFD about the Light & Fit yogurts. They taste really good and eat the for breakfast. Trying out the dryer sheet idea. I rarely clean my baseboards because it's a pain in the ass so they are dirty and need a good clean. Like this weekend.

  23. Happy birthday to Debbie and MFD!!!! I had to LOL so hard at the beta machine! That dress is absolutely gorgeous!!! How does it run? I really love that plum color. I could use a plum dress. And I myself am not opposed to purchasing something I love in every color. If the shoe fits, but it in ever color moto is clearly something we live by! The bookwormbouqitue is something new to me as of a few weeks ago. Following them on Instagram is about to do some serious damage to le wallet.

  24. $900 dollars for a beta machine?! That's freaking insane. You know someone will buy it, though, for their coveted god knows what tape collection.

Give your pups a smooch for moi! ;)

  25. Congrats to MFD for starting his own company!!!!
What a cute dress, Steph! I love!

  28. yes to not being an asshole and being grateful. so true! we are currently on the 3rd floor (only 2 flights of stairs) but we will be moving to a new building on the 8th floor so.. my glutes are gonna be amazing, that's all i'm saying lol.
i have never tried potato chips and cucumbers, but i do love both so i shall have to try. i love that bookworm boutique place! i want ALLTHETHINGS.
super cute dress from modcloth! i have the worst luck with their stuff, everything is too short.
also, i have no idea what a Beta Max player is. i could google it, but. i didn't.

  29. Yes to being grateful!!! I so need to try a chip and cucumber sandwich! Sounds so yummie.

  30. That dress is wicked cute. I am considering the cobalt color. It looks like it would be really flattering.
That cuke and chip combo is definitely out of the box.
Also I totally remember beta max. We had a Sleeping Beauty tape on Beta Max and I'm pretty sure that was my first Disney experience.

  31. Love Debbie's walking ! Love Mike Doyle's fishing lure #dontlikeworms. Love your dress ! Love the monthly recommendations blog!
We have been buying Chobani Greek yogurt from Sams. Good price and tastes good. Peach. Blueberry. Strawberry.
    Love, Your Momma

  32. Your cucumber and potato chip sandwich sounds like my love of Doritos and cream cheese on a bagel concoction, which was a high school favorite! That dress looks like it would work on women of all shapes and sizes, which is why I'm digging it. I need to visit the bookworm boutique for sure. Great recs!

  33. Cucumber and potato chip sandwiches??? How have I never heard of this? Sounds amazing. Dryer sheets seem to be great for a lot of things. Trying that one too. Loving you mascara recommendation!!!

  34. I always "window shop" (can I still call it window shopping if it's online?) at ModCloth, but I never order anything. One of my closest friends always orders cute things from there, but we have very different body types and I'm always afraid I'll hate the way the clothes look on my body. I wouldn't worry so much, but I'm notoriously terrible with remembering to send things back before the 30 or 60 day return is up. Eh, maybe one day.

I visited the Bookworm Boutique after seeing it on your Instagram and found at least 10 things I need (but not really). I'll probably end up ordering a shirt or two at some point, though. I'm a sucker for t-shirts, and since I can wear them to work (and the gym, obviously), I'm always buying them. They get a lot of use, so I can kind of justify those purchases!

  35. Well crap. I used the Amazon gift card (THANK YOU!) for that cat water dish and now I want the sink caddy. Haha! I have a huge wish list going at Bookworm Boutique. Thanks for sharing!
