TWTW - This weekend I...

1. Recouped. I didn't leave the house except for a quick Saturday morning run to the Farmers' Market.
2. Hit the Far Northeast Farmers' Market. I got tomatoes, cucumbers, peaches, plums, blueberries, blackberries, eggs, pork chops, smoked pineapple salsa, and treats for the dogs.
3. Had our good friends Jill & Frank over for dinner. Mexican stuffed shells, salad, and catching up were on the menu.
4. Made cinnamon ice cream using the Pioneer Woman's recipe. It was excellent. I served it alongside a fruit cobbler I made with every type of fruit I got from the Farmers' Market.
5. Did my weekly food prep: zucchini pie for breakfasts; fruit, greek yogurt, and orange peppers for snacks; mexican stuffed shells and celery for lunch; grilled chicken drumsticks, grilled pork chops, salad, and wild rice for dinners. I also made a tray of mexican stuffed shells to freeze.
6. Received our new beach chairs. MFD's was nine years old and done. Mine was pretty new but didn't recline. We went with the Tommy Bahamas after testing out my Dad & Carol's on vacation.
7. Did the usual: weights, Sunday sheet changing and towel washing, minor hausfrauing, 407 runs of the dishwasher.

8. Went to Walfart because it was convenient and then hated myself after because the whole place is a shitshow, edited a short book for someone, ignored my janky feet that need a pedicure, grilled meats in my pajamas (sorry neighbors), watched season one of Laguna Beach even though it's almost 10 years old and there are a zillion other shows I haven't even seen yet and should've watched instead, slept in on Sunday, stalked #grandteton and #yellowstone hashtags on Instagram since I'm obsessed with our upcoming anniversary trip, and enjoyed having a silent house to myself for most of Sunday.

9. Spent quality time with los perros.
10.. Finished the last book in the Wayward Pines series. I need more. Tomorrow is the Show Us Your Books linkup. I have a lot to show you and I want to hear what you've been reading and recommend! I'll see you back here tomorrow for book talk, I hope.

  1. That sounds like a fabulous weekend. Love all the fresh fruit and veggies. I am still trying to get through Suits, but a Laguna Beach marathon sounds pretty good. How is it that old already?! The pups look adorable as always!

  2. "Grilled in my pjs. Sorry neighbors." lol, love it! Looks like a great weekend. I could totally get down on some Laguna Beach!

  3. That first weekend home after vacation is amazing; recoup, indeed! I have an ice cream maker and I have never used it. That cinnamon ice cream sounds great, as do those Mexican stuffed shells. Have a great week! Stay cool. :-)

  4. do-nothing weekends are the best. i have all 3 pines books in the queue but need to finish 2 books before i start (library is up my ass to return them).

  5. Sounds like a great weekend...hey I grilled out in my pjs too. No shame!

  6. I did the recuperating thing this weekend too, I need it.

Tyson just bought himself a big ass new beach chair completed with cup and cell phone holders. Mine is fairly new but like yours doesn't recline, I'm seriously thinking about trading up.

  7. I HATE Walmart. They are building one 5 minutes from our house and my husband is SO EXCITED... and I'm just annoyed/pissed because it is my idea of hell. Enough of that though ... love the pugs. Especially the bug-eyed picture that makes me think the flash went off in someone's face, lol

  8. I LOVE the pic of your pups on your couch pillows. One for each pillow LOL.
I never go to the farmers markers but I so want to after seeing your buys. Have a happy Monday!

  10. Sounds like it was a great weekend. I love a good do nothing weekend. LOL. I love going to the farmers market, the prices are always so much cheaper than the grocery store.

  11. Sorry if this is a double post I'm using my iPad ... The cobbler and ice cream look delicious. Those type of desserts are my favorite in the summer. I would make them more but my husband doesn't like fruit pies, etc. so weird. Looking forward to the post tomorrow! I'm going to share my sad post with one book 😀. At least I'll find more books to add to my list.

  14. Sounds like a fun night entertaining your friends with a nice meal. Your homemade ice cream also sounds amazing and served with fruit cobler yum! Always great to have a weekend at home getting stuff done. That's exactly what I tried to do as well.

  15. Aww to the pups on the couch cushions. All those noms make me hungry for some berries.

    ReplyDelete
  16. That cobbler looks amazing. I always eat the cake part and leave the berries.
Maybe I'll try Mexican stuffed shells. I've never made them.

  17. Your symmetrical dogs on the couch, so cute! I hate post-vacation catch-up. It's almost as bad as pre-vacation laziness, which I'm currently experiencing.

  18. That farmers market fruit looks to die for. Do you have any leftovers you can post...?! I sometimes have enforced weekends at home and it's the absolute best. I always feel heaps better afterwards. The only thing is it's sometimes awkward to explain to people why you can't come to whatever it is they've invited you to, without sounding like you'd much rather sit at home alone than spend time in their company...

  19. I had to do a double take of the boys on the couch because it looks like the picture was a double paired side by side! Where did you order those Tommy chairs from? Those are the exact ones that we have been wanting! Cinnamon homemade ice cream?!?! That sounds freaking amazing! As does that cobbler to go along with it. I ended up at Walmart this past week too. Funny how it seems like a good idea until you get to the parking lot, am I right? Hope you have a great week!

  20. Sounds like quite a nice weekend.

I fucking can't stand Costco. Every time I go there I find myself raging or wanting to go psycho on people, telling to move the hell on over if you're going to be lolly gagging all day long.

Love the pic of the pups. Of course I do, right? Lol ;)

    Xo

  21. good for you! I'm sure that was so necessary after your vacation! The dogs sure look content!

I've wanted to try that cinnamon ice cream recipe! Glad it got a nod of approval from you!

  22. Okay the cobbler and ice cream look positively divine! Again you had a majorly productive weekend and I am amazed that we have the same amount of hours in the day because my weekend never seems to be the productive! The pups as always are adorable and just melt my heart every time!

  23. Love Mexican stuffed shells. Well really any type of stuffed pasta ha. I haven't seen Laguna Beach in forever. I watched a few episodes of The Hills a couple of weeks ago though haha. Happy Monday!

  25. My dog lays on the couch just like that, king of the castle. My plan Sunday was not to leave the couch or put on real clothes, which got foiled by my poor baby and her ear ache. Mmmmm zucchini pie, that sounds so good!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Aaw, I love how the pugs let you use their couch. :)

  27. Awesome farmers market haul! And all that food looks and sounds so good. I was actually in Philly (Manayunk again) myself this weekend or I would have done the same shop and prep with all those goodies.

  28. Sounds like a lovely weekend--sometimes you just need to stay at home and enjoy it!

  33. Sounds like a wonderful glorious weekend! And YES to the farmers market, all that food looks amazing :-D

P.S. SOoooo much yes to Laguna Beach! Team Lauren/LC!!!

  34. #8 was a pretty perfect wrap-up. Your grabs from the Farmer's Market look fantastic. Can I ask how much the whole lot cost you? (I don't know why I'm asking; it's only going to depress me again how the cost of living is so drastically different here.)

  35. I also had a very relaxing weekend at home (minus a much needed trip to the grocery store). Those are sometimes the best weekends.

I used to make a different version of Mexican stuffed shells (with chicken and a cream sauce), but I haven't made those in a really long time. Reading this makes me want to make them again soon (and, of course, share the recipe)!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mmm, now I'm craving some stuffed shells. And that pineapple salsa sounds delicious too! I love the first pic of both the dogs on the couch haha- twins!!
