And by Birthday Girl, I mean America. Not the flag. |
One of the greatest things about this country is that you have the ability to burn the flag in protest of your government. While I consider it sacrilege to do that, you have to admit that living in a country where it is legal to do so is amazing. I also love that while you'll have your fringe flag burners here and there, you have eleventy billion people who would straight up punch someone in the face should they happen upon them desecrating the flag that represents, to them, the spirit of the American people.
God bless America, land that I love. Happy birthday, you grand old lady. Happy Fourth from me & my crew to you and yours. Be safe, don't drink and drive, and avoid setting off fireworks unsupervised.
See ya'll on Monday for TWTW.
I'm going to a 4th of July party here in Sydney. It is probably the biggest 4th of July party I will have ever attended. It started out advertised at the Hard Rock Cafe Sydney. They've had so many RSVP that they've booked two other bars surrounding it as well. Another thing to love about America? When Americans live in another country, they still want to celebrate America! Fantastics photos of your crew :)
ReplyDeletelol your pups are not impressed with being dressed up. i love their expressions....esp gus (or is that gee? i can never tell them apart - the one at the bottom left) - he's all "jesus christ woman, again? fine, let's get this over with; take the pic and move on".
ReplyDeleteI actually get a little teary eyed when ever the national anthem is played - every single time!! Have a great weekend! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteYes to all the things in this post, especially the pups all dolled up!! Have a great weekend/end of vaca and I can't wait for TWTW on Monday!!
ReplyDeleteLove the collage - great pics! :)
ReplyDeleteI dislike flag-burning because I don't see how it helps issues/causes at all. But I appreciate having the right to do it.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures as usual! Great post!
ReplyDeleteLove those pup pics!
ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate that there are idiots who take full advantage of the freedoms we have as Americans, but we have to take the good with the bad, I suppose. Love the family pics. Expecting some good ones of you and MFD to pop up on IG this weekend!
ReplyDelete3 cheers for America!! Heck yeah.
ReplyDeleteGod bless America! The flag is my favorite symbol of our nation. I believe that burning the flag is sacrileges as well & for the most part agree that it is amazing that we live in a nation that allows it as freedom of speech. I believed it a whole lot more until recently when other things started being taken away because they were offensive...even though freedom of speech? Anyway... to end on a happy note: glad you're having a great trip & happy 239th birthday to America!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with this. There is just SOMETHING about watching the Stars & Stripes fly. And I love the snapping sound.
ReplyDeleteYour dogs. Holy shit. I love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the patriotic photos of your crew!
ReplyDeletei had no idea you could burn a flag! that's crazy. love all the fabulous photos. hope you all have a grand 4th!
ReplyDeleteYour dogs are great sports! Happy 4th. And I think you have to burn the flag if it is too old to be hung up. Like you can't just throw it away.
ReplyDeleteWe had such a hard time finding the right pole for our house to display the flag, and I was really annoyed by it...but Jason found the right one and I was stoked to get a flag up in time for this weekend! Looks like you're having a great time!
ReplyDeleteAmerica the beautiful. Lucky to be born here.
ReplyDeleteLove the patriotic pups!
Love, your Momma
Happy July 4th! Enjoy celebrating. I hope your dogs don't get too scared by the fireworks (do they tend to?) and you all have a jolly end to your hols!

ReplyDeleteI love the customs surrounding the American flag...Like how it shouldn't touch the ground, how to fold it, etc. Have a Happy 4th of July tomorrow!!
