June Recommendations

Hello hello friends! You know the drill. Skimmers, recommendations are in bold (and typically clickable). Two of my favorite June babies, my mom and Michelle, are joining me for recommendations this month.

Follow my mom on Twitter

It's summertime!
1. Baby Powder. Any kind will do. Keep some in your car. Instant sand removal.  Great to combat sweating and make us comfortable. For those of us who do not have thigh gaps, it brings welcome relief.
2. Natural Instincts hair color. What a money saver! Thank Goddess my hair loves it. It has natural stuff. It is extremely inexpensive via coupons and sales- under $5 a box or less. And easy: 15 minutes on the roots, 10 more minutes on the rest of my head, then rinse. And a conditioning rinse to be used 2-3 times in between.  Every 5-6 weeks I get my hair trimmed and colored.  When I go to a different salon to get an updo, the stylists and clients all remark how they love my hair color. Also, I am probably completely gray and I never have any roots. I will use this until I go to the other side.
3. Epsom salts, any kind. You can buy plain and add your own essential oils. I soak in a tub once a week for about 20 minutes.  Also use when I soak my tootsies along with white vinegar. I think it is a detox.  There are always differences of opinions, but it works for me, so that's what I care about. It's a mind and body detox. Deep breathing and soaking.
4. Sparkly body sprays. This is from Ulta, but I have also used Bath and Body sparkly sprays. It is lightly scented, feels good when applied, and gives you hints of sparkle.  Looks lovely in the sun or in the evening under the stars. Sparkle and shine all the time.
5.  Always pack a cooler. Even if it is just you. A nice, ice cold drink is always welcome and a protein bar, fruit, or some kind of snack.  With kids, its essential! And husbands, too, LOL! We have had 50 million road trips over the past 20 plus years and have always watched our spending. This is a big money saver and convenience and you know what you are getting. Drinks and food from home are a fraction of the cost and you do not have to stop.  Many times there was no place around to buy anything, or you needed something quick. I always have a cold drink in my car with plenty of ice, even if I am going to the grocery store.Stay hydrated!!

1. Eucaplytus mint. Anything and everything. From hand soap to shampoo to candles. The scent will open your senses and calm you.

2. Embrace your inner vulgarity. Take that however you feel the need but no one likes a perfect person and newsflash, everyone sees thru your perfection. Everyone 💩 so it is ok to talk about it. Other vulgar fun topics, if you need a starting point: Sex (without sex and all the flavors of dirty deeds that people do, none of us would be here. Period.), riding the Crimson tide, that nasty creepy pimple, farts, SHARTS, cursing, peeing outside...I think you got the point. Just stop being so uptight!
3. Friends. Maybe a weird recommendation, but find some real ones. And yes it is ok to clean house once in awhile. But whether it is a few or many, find them and cherish them and hold them dear. And know a true friend accepts you, all of you: the good, the bad, and the vulgar.

4. Travel. See the world even if the world is only the town or city next to you. Open your eyes to how others live. It will make you appreciate your home more or give you a chance to find the home you were always looking for.

5. Work hard, play harder. Work hard and be the best you can be but don't forget to let loose. Indulge, pamper yourself, DO YOU, have some F-U-N...you have one life to live so live it!

                              _______________________________________________

1. Nip + Fab body products. I got these at Target. I love the smells and they're relaxing and feel good.

2. Pampered Chef Brownie Pan. I use this every week for my egg muffins. I've never sprayed it with non-stick spray and my eggs have not once stuck. I would pay $100 for this pan but alas they only charge $20. I purchase through Betsy from Musings of a Museum Fanatic. You can access her Pampered Chef website by clicking here
3. Maybelline Lash Sensational. Nine bucks for a full fanning lovely mascara that doesn't run? Sold. Thanks to Kerry for the recommendation!
4. Organizing your socks in a hanging organizer. I used this one. Freaking genius. Why did it take me so long to get on this?

Thanks to my mother & Michelle for throwing out some recommendations this month.Let us hear yours! What are you recommending this month?

  1. I agree with your Mom always pack a a cooler, so much cheaper and you wont go without. Haven't tried that color before though. Work Hard, Play hard is my motto too, life is too short to just work you need balance. Isn't that mascara the best, love how it makes my lashes look. Glad you are liking it too. The sock organization is genius!

  2. I agree with your mom on the powder. I actually found a pound lotion that I use for my none existent thigh gap area! The foot sack I may have to try!

I am all for the eucalyptus mint too!

  5. I love how your mom took part in this! I will be picking up that epsom salt from CVS my next trip there. I'm not sure how I missed those Nip + Fab products at Target, especially since I'm there so much. I always love a good body lotion. I'm going to recommend a mesh beach tote that I got from Target, Dove exfoliating bar soap and listening to a podcast. I know a lot of people have mixed feelings on Alec Baldwin but I think he's hysterical and I love his.

  6. Michelle's embrace your vulgarity is my favorite !!! I am buying that mascara when I use the awesome Ulta gift card you gave me. I am intrigued by the brownie pan, too.
My pleasure to take part in your blog. Love you to infinity and beyond. Love, your Momma

  7. I love Epsom salt, I try to keep it in the house at all times.

Yes to embracing your inner vulgarity, more people should try it.

If my closet were bigger I'd give sock hanging a try, I hate digging through the sock drawer.

  8. Next time I do a post like this, I am also recommending that mascara (with a shoutout to Kerry and you too bc why not? Spread the love...) because it's AWESOME. I need new body wash so thanks for the rec. I always want something you post about. What's in the tube in that pic? I assume lotion but the French side is facing out. And do all brownies made in that pan taste like corner pieces? If so, I could be sold. Love everyone else's recs too, but yours are easiest to comment on since I know you're the one doing the responding.

  10. I totally need that brownie pan in my life!! It would make the perfect brownie. I think packing a cooler is such a great idea. I have been doing that too, it's so nice to have a cold beverage on hand when you need it.

  12. I bought that mascara after Kerry recommended it to ha. Baby powder is in fact a life saver for sweat. I never thought about the sand part though! And I appreciate the tip about being vulgar. I cannot stand people that try to be prim & proper 100% of the time. It's exhausting.

  13. I don't know what it says about me that I identify so hard with your mom, but I do. I never go anywhere without a full bottle of water (or several) and at least *something* to snack on in case I get hungry. There is always food in my purse. And epsom salts, yes! After a hard run or a race or just when my body feels tired, epsom salt soak + peppermint essential oil and I am a happy camper.
Also, I always see Nip + Fab products and they're always so attractive to me but I've yet to purchase one. What is your favorite product from the line?

  14. Love the advice about travel and seeing the world, one of my favorite mottos to live by! And yay for momma and sparkly body spray :-D

  15. I love your mom so much. She reminds me of my mom, I think that's why. My mom is all about the sparkle and shine too!

  16. A cooler is a great idea to pack drinks and snacks for road trips to avoid stopping and spending. I will remember that for the future. The brownie pan looks amazing as does the mascara! I'm very happy using Maybelline products over especially their mascaras over the expensive brands.

  17. Baby powder and sparkly spray are musts for me in the summer too!!! I have never heard of that line that you found at Target but I am now intrigued. They make a tummy tightening one....very interesting!! I go back and forth on that mascara. When I first got it I loved it, after a week I wasn't a fan...and now I am coming around again. It is the best Maybeline one that I have tried, I will say that. For some reason, I just have a harder time getting it off than other drug store brands.

  18. is it weird that i like the middle brownies best? I like them a little underdone. I need to try natural instincts and that nip and fab sounds awesome!

  19. I'm with your mom and water and snacks. There's always something with me. And baby powder - so much yes! I embraced my vulgarity a LONG time ago. :) That's a nice pan for only $20. I may have to consider getting one of those.

  20. Love all your mom's recommendations, the cooler idea is something I never thought of before but really smart! I have a pampered chef drink container that has a handle on it so you can mix up the settled items in a drink. I used the first one until it broke and then promptly bought a second one.

  21. Awesome recs, ladies! (love that your mom contributed this month!) Great idea to pack a cooler with own drinks and snacks. It's always torture to find something suitable for a kid to eat at a rest top (too much sugar, salt everywhere). YES to making some real friends! And great baking pan. All crusts. Oh yea.

  22. I want to try ALL OF THESE THINGS. So many good recommendations! I have to admit that I will probably try the mascara one first off though!

  23. This post made me happy... & now made my list at Target even longer.

  24. Dude that sock thing looks great and would give me more room in my drawer. They're all sorted and in a box to keep them away from the other necessities but I'm always looking for more drawer room. Also, baby powder is legit I need to start carrying it with me too.

  25. I love that your mom is on Twitter and that she loves sparkly body sprays!! I think we would be fast friends!! Ha! And I am totally going to try out the Nip and Fab products. How have I missed these? I am falling off my product game.

  26. SO many good recommendations in this post!!! I should really remember to keep a cooler in my car more often- I get SO thirsty and I hate paying for a bottle of water when I could have brought my own from home! Also- baby powder helps with sweat? I did not know this! Thanks for linking to someone's PChef site too- I've been wanting a couple things but it's been so long since I've been to a party I've lost their contact info!!!

  27. I want to use that brownie pan to make toffee. I keep seeing those ideas and they look so genius. And pretty. And you know, candy that's pretty gets eaten slower than candy that's not.... oh wait... yeah, no. BUT STILL. So many uses for that pan.

  28. I am a baby powder nut! And also.... the glitter body spray. I call it my stripper spray. One of my guy friends always jokes that he can't hug me or his wife will think hes been somewhere makin it rain lol. I love these posts, I need new mascara and I'm broke as usual so perfect timing!

  30. I love the packing a cooler idea. I need to incorporate this one.

Of course, my favorite of Michelle's is "embrace your inner vulgarity." Love it.

I'm totally checking out that mascara. I'm having a terrible problem with raccoon eyes lately and it's pissing me off.

  31. Uh, I think I love your mom now.
    That is all.

  32. lol at being vulgar and uptight. very true!
i love anything eucaplytus - love the smell!
i'll have to check out the nip & fab stuff next time i'm in target. and i'm always down for a new mascara...

  33. I always have epsom salt on hand. I don't even care if it's a placebo. I would never use that pan as a brownie pan because I'm a center brownie type of girl, but that sounds genius for egg muffins. $20 seems reasonable too.
