TWTW - the one where May started

Friday night usual: weights, laundry, grocery delivery. Then I listened to Big Parade by The Lumineers more than 10 times in a row and made some amazing zucchini brownies with frosting that we proceeded to eat like a pack of wild dogs.
Saturday was not a happy day for the pug boys - they got brushed a zillion times and got a bath. The dogs got this FURminator dual brush free from Chewy.com and it is awesome. Mae has awful skin allergies and it got all of  her dander off. Gus actually stood still to be brushed. The boys shed like total loons and I have a hard time getting all the hair off. This worked really well. The reason I love Chewy.com is because their prices are fair and seriously? Last week I ordered dog food and it was delivered the next day. They guarantee two day shipping but I typically get my stuff in one. I also like them because it's one less errand to run and I never have to go to the pet store again which is fine by me because it smells in there.
Then the bastards laid down in the dirt.
I also worked more on reorganizing my clothes including putting pants on top of the closet and purging some. I just need to go through my sweaters and my biannual purge will be complete.
We didn't do anything for the Derby, in fact MFD left before it started for mummery, but he indulged me for hat photos probably because it's easier than telling me no. I do love to wear a hat. Even just sitting on the couch.
After talking about Beautiful Girls this week, I decided to watch it. And tweeted about it. And freaking Michael Rapaport liked my tweet which left me squealing like a teenage fangirl. I also watched two episodes of Bloodline and thoroughly enjoyed not having anywhere to go or anything pressing to do.
Weekly food prep: breakfast burritos with egg, spinach, ground sausage, cheese, and salsa for the freezer; egg muffins with spinach, salsa, ground sausage, and cheese (I like to double pop ingredients when possible) for breakfast; Saturday dinner and lunch for the week - sweet potato mac and cheese with jalapeno and bacon from Life With Lolo; cucumber salsa (recipe coming tomorrow); carrots, granny smith apples, and bananas for snacks; and dinners are roasted chicken with yellow rice and steamed broccoli and chicken tacos using taco meat from the freezer.
Sunday was pretty lazy aside from some food prep and the usual changing of sheets and washing of sheets and towels. I put the summer quilt on our bed, read outside, and painted my nails. The color is Julep Neha and I love it. It's a sassy dark pink with shine and depth.
The dogs were quite pleased that I was home both days (bath time not included). They were passed out hard by the afternoon on Sunday. It's hard work staring at your people all weekend.
Other weekend things:
-Sunday night dinner with MFD's 80 year old clients. They had some good stories! I love listening to older people.
-First Dairy Delight trip of the season for soft serve.
-Spotted someone doing landscaping next to Sev/Dairy Delight who very closely resembled David Wooderson. Go out of the house for the first time all weekend on a Sunday night and hit the jackpot in food and sights.
-Whenever I don't leave the house for more than a day, I sort of stare around the world in a daze like it's the first time I'm seeing it when I finally do leave the house. Anyone else? Bueller?
-Wore no real leave the house clothes or makeup all weekend. It was tops.
-Did you catch this post about red, red wine? Make you feel so fine.

Linking up with Biana at B Loved Boston for Weekending

  1. I was feeling sorry for the pups (I mean, have you seen a more sad pup?!) until I saw them vindictively laying in the dirt and giving you the stink eye yesterday. I hope MFD begins sporting hats with bows more regularly. It's a good look for him.... at least to entertain me! Poor MFD. I am the worst bully. He's a good sport though.

  2. Weekends of doing nothing are glorious, and sometimes much needed. The poor pups, though that reminds me Seamus really could use a bath too, let the stink eye begin! They got their revenge though lying in the dirt.

  3. I just started Bloodline. As someone who used to live in South Florida, I find it fun to watch and remember the Keys. I seriously laughed out loud...the bastards! Isn't that how it always is? Have a great week, Steph!

  4. Every once in awhile, I love those weekends where I don't leave the house! They don't happen often. The pups in the bath... those little pathetic faces, and the wet fur. Can't stop giggling! Oh, the World Lupus Day rally at LOVE Park is on the 14th! I'm dragging Brie, and I'll bring your mug. Hopefully you can join for lunch?

  5. my weekend was the opposite of yours and i wish it were more like yours! do nothing weekends are glorious, GLORIOUS i tell you. they are rare for me because of my 2 children (kid and husband) but when they have stuff to do, i lay back and do nothing like a boss.

will be queuing up bloodline to watch after gotham!

  6. I'm actually pretty sad that we finished Bloodline last week - I'm looking forward to the next season! I still need to pick up that Bonder you mentioned! Happy Monday! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  7. Why is it dogs always find something to sit/lay/roll in after a both, it's like they love being gross and stinky.

Lazy Sunday's are the best, I love that color polish!

  8. Sometimes the best weekends are when we do a little bit of nothing. I love that Julep nail polish color. So pretty.

  9. Awesome weekend! LOL on the baths and the brushing. Our two pups got pool baths and a good brushing. Glorious sitting by the open pool with the pool lights on at night and gorgeous weather. We wait for this from the time we close the pool and I love it. Every day! I like listening to old people stories- in 20 years I will be 80 and I will be them. Beautiful forecast this week. Carpe diems ! Love, Your Momma

  10. lol at the look on the dog's face in the bath. Since my cats an outdoor cat, I give him a bath every couple of weeks and I just love to laugh at him after. It's like he's all discombobulated. He baths himself for about 2 hours straight and then proceeds to go to the basement and roll around on the floor, like the asshole he is.

  12. OH the look of betrayal in the bath. I love it! Looks like I need to go back and check to make sure I finished up all my Choose Your Adventure tasks eek!

  13. I do NOT enjoy going to the pet store either. I'll have to check out that site. Of course they got into the dirt after baths! :)

Sounds like a great weekend. I can't wait to spend a weekend at home... very soon!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I totally do the staring around thing! Of course I spend about 5 to 6 days locked away here at the house without leaving so maybe it's because I'm just so relieved! The pugs are so stinking cute! My dogs always run for the dirt after bath time as well....just out of spite I think! I will have to look into Chewy, I've seen some really great things on them and I think it is time to check it out!

  15. My dogs always ALWAYS go lay in the dirt after their baths. WTF?!?!?!?! I am going to have to look in to that brush. Gracie is losing so much fur right now!!! And her skin allergies and other allergies are off the charts bad. Her poor little eyes are filled with goop in the mornings, her belly is constantly itchy and I have been drugging her with Benedryl more than I would like.

  16. I know you already know this but you're THE most organized person, EVER! I like to pride myself on being organized but you definitely take the cake! I need to do a purge of clothes too... I've gone through my closets but currently most of the clothes I need to get rid of are living on my bedroom floor... not very productive to move them from one place to the other, haha! And your meal planning is awesome... I need to follow your lead!

  17. I like the looks of that dual brush from Chewy. Maybe I'll check it out next time I shop on their site. We didn't do anything for the Derby either just watched it at home. The mac and cheese recipe sounds amazing! Going to check it out now..

  18. Don't you just love those weekends where you haven't had to do your makeup or get dressed or anything? They are very few and far between, but when I get to have them they are so wonderful. And I am definitely going to look up that recipe for those sweet potatoes mac n cheese! Sounds delicious!

  19. Laying in the dirt after a bath is a Hawkeye move too. Those dillweeds.
I'm going to purge a bit of my wardrobe tonight. The cleaning lady is coming and I can't just sit and do nothing while she works, I feel so lazy. So closet purge it is!

  20. I've gots to try those muffin tins you use. I was cursing last night making mine. Non stick pan my ASS!

How were the zucchini brownies? I guess they were killer if you were both feasting like wolves. Lol

I was wondering when the choose your own adventure link up was. Thanks for the heads up! :)

  21. You and your home deliveries - you are on point, my friend! I love puppy bath photos, even if my dogs want to legit murder me at bath time :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'll never tire of all the pics of your dog. So cute. And dogs in the bath are pretty incredible to look at- so pathetic and adorable looking!

I like the hat pics! They suit you guys well, even if it is just for the couch.

  23. Those brownies look so good!! I saw it on IG and was massively jealous. P and I got a very bad brownie from the coffeeshop that same night, it tasted like nothing, I was so disappointed. Things by mail are THE BEST. I love it! Sounds like a relaxing weekend for you (but still productive per your usual) :)

  24. Those pups are too cute and I am loving the hats =)

  25. Don't you love when a celeb faves/retweets something of yours and you try to keep the excitement to a cool level? It's so hard though! Yum I need to check out that brownies recipe stat.

  26. Love the hats! This weekend we were outside a lot which was SO nice. Bought myself some new running sneakers...woohoo. I haven't seen Beautiful Girls in so long, I really liked that movie. Natalie Portman was really good in that. Do you follow a DVD or app with your weights? I found a pretty good Nike one that I've actually been sticking with.

    ReplyDelete
  27. the zucchini brownies... you like them? also so cool when an important person actually takes the time to notice you!

    ReplyDelete
  28. May the Fourth be with you too!

It was too nice to keep the pups inside all weekend, but I would've been pissed if they laid in the dirt right after baths!
I adore your hat. What was one do when they go to "mummery"?

Good luck with the rest of your purge!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love anyone who can get me my stuff in 2-days, tops. Hello, Amazon- I love you forever! I'm excited to hear your cucumber salsa recipe :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks for the recipe shout out! I hope you liked it as much as I did! Did you tweak the recipe at all?

I feel you on the pet brushing, bathing etc...I'm giving in and taking Gunner to the groomer. I can't brush all day everyday and that's what it would take at this point. Plus we have the roll in the dirt after a bath phenomenon too. Dang dogs.

    Happy Star Wars Day!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. That brush from Chewy looks like something I definitely need in my life for Roxy! And I officially need to try those zucchini brownies.. YUM!

    Have a fabulous week :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. We go through a pan of brownies disgustingly fast. I may need to try these zucchini ones, especially with the frosting.

MFD's tattoo makes the hat pictures 100 times better.

    ReplyDelete
  33. haha the hats - love them. i need one of those furminators, it looks like it's snowing in my house because chelsea sheds so much its ridiculous. those brownies look amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Aw looks like such a good weekend! I'm dying at your hat pictures. And your sweet little pug faces!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Those brownies look amazing! Looks like a really great weekend. I'm loving the pink nail color & the hat pics.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Do those brownies taste like zucchini? Because I don't like it. But I once made brownies with black beans and you couldn't taste them at all. I love your hats and your cute clean dogs! I also LOVE it when celebs interact on Twitter, especially when you know they are the ones that run their accounts, not their assistants. I want some soft serve and a weekend without makeup!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Everyone deserves a weekend to themselves, glad to see yours was relaxing!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Now, I'm squealing. I feel like I helped get Michael Rapaport to favorite your tweet. Him singing Beth with Elle McPherson by his side while he removes snow is one of my all-time favorite scenes. I'm taking my 6 degrees of separation.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That is so awesome about the tweet favorite. I need to catch up on that show (still).

Also, yay for purging the closet. That feels great.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Your dogs are too cute!! I love how they rolled in dirt immediately after being clean, so frustrating but such a typical dog behavior haha. I need to try some zucchini brownies, I love zucchini bread so I bet brownies would be even better!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh it never fails - after we brush Alaska, or heck she was just groomed on Sunday - She rolled in the dirt. It's a dog thing

I love the hat pictures!!!! And zucchini brownies - YUM!

    ReplyDelete
  42. those 'brownies' look delicious, and the hat pictures, YES!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Haha yes! My exact sentiments when I don't leave the house all day and then step outside. What IS this place?! Where am I? That was me this past Saturday. Those brownies look good! If I make them without the icing they're dairy free! I might try to make some subs for the icing with vegan butter substitute and almond milk.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The doggies are adorable! I might have to try that brush.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wet puppies!!! :D :D :D I've only given JC a bath once or twice... he was okay for it but it was still a pain in the ass. Now he just gets one when he goes to the groomer... since he NEVER GOES OUTSIDE it works. :) :P
I just got my first couple of Julep polishes last week... I can't wait to try them out!
