TWTW - the one before Memorial Day

Last week was a bear. Friday night I broke in the too puffy dog bed for the dogs, spending an hour or so laying on the new bed while the ungrateful bastards laid on the old one or the floor. I got some new stuff at ULTA and went to bed early.
The Far Northeast Farmers' Market had its grand opening on Saturday morning in its new spot in Somerton. It was great! I got some asparagus and mushrooms and the dogs got woofles. Local friends, follow the market on facebook and check it out!
I did weights since I skipped them Friday night, washed both couches, got groceries delivered, put my Memorial Day gear out, and went to Old Navy to replace my beloved, oft-worn seven year old pajama pants that finally gave out in the ass. RIP old friends.
My little friend Quinn turned 2 Saturday so I went to his party and ran into my littlest girlfriend Eva the Diva.
Saturday evening was Philly Gay Bingo benefitting the AIDs Fund with friends. The theme was West Beverly Prom. Could you die? Thanks so much to HAP for securing the table and inviting me along with some of my peeps.
I cut out a little early and hopped it on over to Johnny Brenda's to meet MFD to see Mark's band Mercury Radio Theater play.
Sunday was humid and gross. I hate having the house shut up but the air conditioner went on for the first time this year. Geege just can't breathe in the humidity and he's too old for that noise. I did the usual: change sheets, lay out clothes for the week, pick up, laundry, food prep, etc.

Weekly food prep: hard boiled eggs (that I make in the oven), for breakfast along with cottage cheese and berries; peanut butter bread that I ate with nutella and preserves like a fat ass (thanks Jana for the recipe); lunches and dinners are asian-inspired crocked pork and ramen salad and whole wheat pasta with shitake and oyster mushrooms cooked down with some garlic, shallots, and balsamic vinegar and greek yogurt and parmesan to make it a little creamy. I also made iced coffee in bulk.
Once all of my chores were finished, I glued my ass to the couch to do some blogging, lounging, magazine reading, and Mad Men bingeing. I can't believe it's over.

  3. Another fun-filled weekend. Lol on breaking in the fluffy dog bed. Memorial Day is a little early this year. Makes the summertime a bit longer. Now if we could only delay July 4th! The summer flies by after 7/4!
Wishing all a safe, sound, happy week.
    Love, your Momma

  8. In my next life, I want to come back as a dog with owners as good as you or me.
I have some plaid VS pajama pants that just bit the dust too. I'll have to check out Old Navy!

  9. Mad Men. Sigh. We have much to discuss on Wednesday.

Our weekend was surprisingly busy yet unproductive. Except for the Sunday morning bird rescue. That was necessary.

    RIP, pants.

  10. LOL @ the AC going on for the first time this year!!! We have had ours on since the beginning of March. Why did I move down here again? That bingo night sounds so fun!!! Love the theme. I also love that Paul Mitchell Tea Tree stuff, have you used it before? It is refreshing. I would like to hear what you think about that Jergens BB stuff. Have a great week!

  13. Your Saturday night looks bommbbbbb. I LOVE stuff like that. For real, love. So much fun.

Sad when favorite pajama pants give out, NOOOO. The sweats I'm in at the house all the time are seriously tattered EVERYWHERE. Like the ripped ends drag on the floor as I walk around but I'm not giving in til I have to (lucky husband ps).

Food looks great and farmer's markets are the best.

  14. I picked up some fresh asparagus over the weekend too and we're having it tonight with steaks- I may already be counting down the minutes until dinner ;) I know I tell you all the time, but I seriously weirdly love that you always share your food prep. Gives me ideas AND motivates me to get it together each week haha!

  17. I KNEW I wasn't the only one that had to break my dog's bed in. He would climb into it because it was too "fluffy".

  18. I thought Madmen finale was slow... or did I fall asleep and miss something? I seriously need to watch it again. How is it that we are almost half way done with 2015??? Weren't we just making goals and such like 5 minutes ago?

  23. I really like that Tea Tree line from Body Shop. i have tried a few of them and don't mind the smell. Sounds like a busy busy weekend but very productive. I love checking out local farmer's markets to get fresh veggies and fruit.

  24. Your weekend looks amazing!! Love the BINGO!

And - how humid and gross was Sunday? UGHHHHHHHHH

  25. PB bread sounds amazing. That is going on my to-make list.

Laying on the dog bed is totally something we would do; one of our dogs just barfed in the bed and one peed on the other. Those beds are going in the trash when we move.

I am a tiny bit sad but mostly not that I don't have to plant anything/keep anything alive this year. Watering get sso effing old.

  26. The mushroom pasta sounds yummy- I need to check it out!

  27. I have a pair of ON pj shorts that are at least 7 years old that just ripped across the ass last week too!! What a crazy coincidence. The only difference is I didn't get to ON or Target this weekend to replace them so I'm still wearing them with my entire cheek hanging out. This is why I'm single, surely.

  28. I love the 90210 Bingo theme! I was obsessed with that show. I love Farmer's Markets too and they must love me because I'm such a sucker. If there is someone selling a baked good or jam, I buy it.

  29. You get so much done on your weekend. How do you wash a couch though? Im genuinely intrigued and slightly frightened that Ive never washed mine!

  30. I love that you broke in the dog beds. My college roommate & I used to play BINGO all the time. So much fun!

  31. The pasta mushroom dish sounds unique and tasty!! Such a good doggy mommy!! Sam says you can adopt him :) Hope you have a great week!

  32. I love that you had to break in the doggie bed before they would lay on it. Hilarious!

  33. We went to our farmers' market for the first time this weekend too. Some of our favorite booths were gone. Boo. I LOVE your 90210 shirt so much! That Bingo theme is amazing. I just ordered four pairs of ON pj pants. I always wear mine out!

  34. I still haven't had a chance to get to the farmer's market yet this year and you're pictures are making me even more eager to get to one. They are the best part of summer.

  35. I freaking LOVED the end of Mad Men. L-O-V-E. I am still a little icked out that Roger married Megan's bitchy mom. And I was thrilled for Stan and Peggy.

    ReplyDelete
  36. How do you like the Jergens BB Hand Cream? I got the body cream when it first came out but I don't think I stuck with it enough to notice any difference.
Woofles. Stop it right now. That is ADORABLE! lololol :)
Ramen salad is the shit. Pete's mom makes it a lot and I love when she does!

  37. Sounds like a great weekend! It's always sad when you lose your favorite pair of comfy pants! I lost my favorite pair of soft fuzzy ones recently...
