TWTW - the one about nothing

Let me preface this post by saying I did basically nothing this weekend and it was glorious. We've been on the go a little and it was nice to not leave the house at all from Friday until Monday morning.

I celebrated National Love Your Pet Day Friday - sorry for the double share on Instagram and here.
I kept up with my 40/40 - zumba on Friday night, walking/weights/stretchy band Saturday, and active rest on Sunday - slow walking, abs, and stretching.
I kept up with my use a new nail polish every time thing - I've been going bright so it was nice to go neutral with OPI Bubble Bath.
I read a shit ton of magazines and watched a Parks & Rec Treat Yoself marathon all weekend.
I stayed in Saturday with my people.
I cooked. Salad, steamed brussels sprouts, and blackened salmon for dinner Friday night. No bake energy bites for the week. Filling for breakfast burritos to freeze and quinoa and ground turkey to use for stuffed peppers. Turkey meatloaf, garlic mashed cauliflower, and roasted asparagus for Saturday dinner. Egg muffins with sausage, mushrooms, and spinach for the week. Healthy bananas foster in the crockpot with homemade greek vanilla frozen yogurt. Not pictured - ham taken out of the freezer and mashed sweet potatoes. Lunches are leftovers from dinners.
I hausfraued in the general upkeep style. I did laundry and put it away the same day - that never happens. I also wiped down baths, cleaned the kitchen, etc. Same shit I do every day.

I watched the Oscars. I was going to do a post on it but then I just felt like vegging out in a blob-like fashion instead of hunting down images of Oscar fashion so that's what I did. I was jazzed to see Reese Witherspoon share the #ASKHERMORE hashtag on Instagram & Twitter to get interviewers to ask women on the red carpet more about their work and less about their dresses. I adore that. YOU GO REESE.
I also loved speeches from Patricia Arquette, Graham Moore, Common/JohnLegend, and Eddie Redmayne and performances by Lady Gaga, Common, and John Legend. The fashion was meh.

Marching towards spring. Inch by inch. Even though I almost busted my ass this morning on black ice on the way into work.

  1. Sounds like an awesome weekend. Healthy crockpot bananas foster, yes please! Am I the only person who doesn't watch award shows? I hear some of the shows started at 5:30, I was reading instead. ;)

  3. I thought the fashion was great this year. So many of the women looked beautiful and classy. Not too many crazy ugly dresses which was good. lady Gaga was surprisingly beautiful and sounded amazing.

  6. Glad you got to stay in your home-sweet-home! Angels and lights extra for safe walking and travels during the big freeze. Very happy to have sun and warmer temps yesterday. Grateful for whatever nice weather we can get!
Wasn't thrilled with NPH as the host, but not the worst. Dating myself, but loved Johnny Carson as a host !
Continued warm thoughts and safety to all!
    Love, your MOMMA

  10. With the snow day today, I plan on catching up on Downton and continuing my Netflix marathons.

While I don't hate being housebound, I miss going places. Spring better come early here...

  13. This past weekend was supposed to be my lazing around/catch up weekend, and it didn't end up that way. Chores and shoveling snow and last minute social engagements. Blegh....

  15. Black Ice is a bitch, that's what we get more than anything here. I passed on the Oscars in favor of TWD. I can relate far more to the post apocalypse than I can to Hollywood!

  17. I've already put 2 nail polishes that I didn't like for my skin tone into my giveaway pile and I'll be picking out a new color for my work trip :) I love this game. Also, Parks & Rec marathons and magazines are on my weeknight schedule this week since I'll be on the road for work. Happy Monday!

  18. I busted my ass on black ice this morning, for the first time this season. Luckily, today was the one day I forgot my coffee when I left the house, so I was able to break my fall with both hands. Your relaxing weekend sounds pretty amazing!

  19. i love weekends where there are no plans and "nothing" gets done.

  20. Sounds like another great weekend! I love having nothing to do and I never feel guilty about not leaving the house all weekend during the winter. What did you think of NPH as host? I usually like him but I thought he was so awkward and not that funny.

  21. I miss having productive weekends. I can't wait until April when I get my life back. So I will live through you.

I was not all that thrilled with the Oscars and went to bed early, which of course is when all the good performances and speeches finally happened. YouTube was my BFF this morning.

I'm almost out of Orly Bonder. Thanks for the unintentional reminder to buy more.

  22. Sounds like you had a relaxed but productive weekend. I am going to have to check out that link for frozen vanilla yogurt. That sounds fabulous!!!

I didn't watch the Oscars just like I never watch any awards show anymore. I feel with people posting on it, I can get any details that are need to know haha! Have a great week!

  24. Do you have any idea how jealous I am of your staycation weekend? Lucky you! Sounds like the perfect chillax time and who wants to brave all the cold and snow anyway?!? Well, my kids do, but it's because we never get any! We are supposed to get some starting tonight, but I never believe the weather men here in GA when it comes to snow! Fingers crossed!

Reese is pretty cool for doing that!

  27. Love Reese and love that she shared that!! She is awesome :) Is that a fave topcoat you use? I took the time to paint my nails Friday night (a rare occurrence) and they were chipped 2 days later- so frustrating!!

  31. Weekends of nothing are awesome. I cooked up stuff so I could have breakfast burritos this week too.

  32. The weekends where I do nothing are my absolute favourite. I just feel so happy for the rest of the week! I need to book one of these in my diary asap. Also I'm eyeing up some of your meals, as menu planning time is imminent here... Do you have a recipe for your energy bites anywhere?

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's great to have weekend where you're not required to get out the house or be somewhere for a specific time. Sounds relaxing but you were still productive! love all the meals you cooked and I have to try making your egg muffins asap.

  34. Looks like a solid weekend! That's why I remain firm in wanting that snow: I LOVE staying inside during it. Your weekend sounds very legit in my eyes!

I liked the Reese hashtag idea too, well said on her part. I also loved that they did ask Melanie Griffith more about her daughter's movie and we got to see them act out a very standard family scene for us all, haha. Made me laugh.
