Friday Five: Grumpy Cat version

via
You know when there's a thing that a lot of people love and you're sitting there like Grumpy Cat going, no? Here are some of my Grumpy Cat things.

1. Fireworks. Unless they're at Disney or out of the hearing range of my dogs, no thanks.

2. Summer. Heat and humidity; the stench of BO, hot pee, and hot garbage in the city; shedding dogs; etc etc. I like a lot of things about every season, summer included, but I stopped yearning for it when I no longer had the whole thing off. I can totally wait for summer.

3. Scary movies. If I have to watch one you'll have to check me into a mental institution when it's over and I will curse you and haunt you for the rest of eternity.

4. (Insert Holiday) Charlie Brown! Charlie Brown is a total whiner who grates on my nerves. And he hangs out with assholes, too.

5. Bob Marley. Bob Marley songs make me feel like what I imagine an uptight, ultra conservative old republican man must feel like almost every day: filled with rage at nothing in particular except the fact that people are enjoying life around him, and prepared to take it out on everyone.

Other popular things I don't give two shits about:
-Toms shoes
-Tory Burch anything
-Chevron
-Harry Potter
-Taylor Swift and crossover country
-Acting like you hate facebook
-perfect backgrounds in photos

What are some popular things you dislike?

  1. I am with you on all counts except Harry Potter and scary movies! Fireworks annoy me, Charlie Brown is a major downer, and the mere thought of humidity makes my hair frizz....not a summer gal!!

  2. I haven't read Harry Potter. I haven't seen the movies, and I won't. Just not interested. Go ahead and throw the Lord of the Rings in that mix too.

You know what else I don't care about? Starbucks. I don't drink coffee. Everything else they have is pretty mediocre.

  3. Oh I am totally with you about being about to wait for summer! Do I want to feel all sweaty and gross as soon as I walk out of the house, without even doing anything? No thank you!! I feel like everyone and their mother LOVES the summer. Well, not this girl! I did when I was younger but I find as I get older, I like the heat less and less - give me Fall weather all day, every day! :-)

  4. Your other category I totally agree with on everything. I can't agree on summer, I am over the snow. Though if it could be perpetually Fall I would be all over that decision.

  5. With you on summer. Yep definitely love things about summer but humidity, bugs and sweat test that love. I use to be scared to say Christmas Day was not a fave of mine, that I would be labeled a Grinch. I love the songs, decorations, oh how I love my Christmas tree. That said Christmas has tried to take over my favorite holiday Thanksgiving (heck it has tried to commandeer Halloween) so by Christmas day I want it gone. New Year's is another day to me. Great blog.

  6. Acting like you hate facebook is popular? I feel like someone gives me a hard time for not having facebook (never have) at least once a week!

  7. i don't get toms shoes. i love the charity behind it but they aren't comfortable and fall apart. nope.

  8. I do not like scary, gross movies. Love summer. Do not like this weather. Glad we are not involved in youth sports anymore. I do not like Girl Scout cookies. I do not like collecting money outside shopping centers!
Don't like giving cash to anyone. Tom's is a nice idea but too expensive for me.
Happy Friday! Going to the auto show for the first time and I am almost 59!
    Love, your Momma

  9. I am totally with on summer. Just no. I don't like the heat at all. I don't like the winter either, but I cannot deal with summer.

  10. ok I agree with almost everything except I love Taylor Swift and Harry Potter - and SUMMER! I never had summer off, but I love everything about it. You know when you get in your car, it's been outside for 8 hours and you can't breathe because it's so damn stuffy? I LOVE THAT. haha! but yes fireworks anywhere but Disney, no shits. I always thought I was the only one who didn't like Bob Marley! and seriously, I cannot watch scary movies - KC always tries to make me and I tell him he needs to stay up ALL night with me because I will have nightmares and he always thinks I'm joking. No. I tried a pair of toms shoes on once - ouch. No fun.
    Have a good weekend :)

  11. Ha girl, yes. This cracked me up. I try to get myself to like all seasons because I hate wishing time away--but summer is definitely my least favorite. Winter is probably my most favorite (strangely enough--but then again I live in a pretty mild climate hah). And Tory Burch--I don't see the point of the obsession!

  12. Coffee or fancy coffee drinks (I'm looking at you PSL), country music (in general), OneDirection, fireworks (totally!!), breweries or beer in general, mustaches on everything (except dog toys...that's cute), How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory, Doctor Who, Crossfit...I could keep going.

  13. Amen on the Toms and Scary Movies. I laughed at the hot pee. Yuck! Shedding dogs, and the smell from them when they come in is bad... but I'm still wishing for long summer days! Right now I hate Harry Potter. Lost a Trivia Crack game because I didn't know what the girls parents did for a living. Really? DENTISTS?!?! Stupid.

  14. Starbucks, Pandora bracelets, Fake nails of any kind, the Nissan Leaf and all the idiots out there driving them around my town.

    ReplyDelete
  15. This made me LOL!! I don't really get toms shoes either - they dont look comfortable at all!! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

  16. I'm pretty sure I can agree with all of this. Toms are comfortable, but I found knockoff Toms (from Bass Pro Shops) to be half the price and even MORE comfortable.
Taylor Swift makes me grit my teeth but, honestly, a lot of music does, so that's why I stick to audiobooks these days.
I've never read or seen Harry Potter and I'm okay with that.

    ReplyDelete
  17. hahah this is so great. I do like summer and fireworks but i totoally get it. I am with you on everything. Bob Marley had me laughing out loud. that is so accurate!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I thought I was the only person in the world that didn't like Charlie Brown!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ugh summer is so hot and miserable. Like seriously, who likes sweating and having their legs stick to car seats? And but sweat? No one likes that shit, stop pretending! I dont get Tom's shoes, Bob Marley, scary movies, Tory Burch shoes that are so damn uncomfortable and ridiculous amounts of money either. Taylor Swift and Harry Potter though...sorry. More for me, I guess?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Awww... Harry Potter. Don't read my post today. (Unless you want to laugh at my misery which is richly deserved for being a Harry Potter fan, in true Grumpy Cat fashion)

Fireworks are starting to lose their luster for me. We've just done them so many times. Although I did backyard fireworks for the first time ever over the holidays and that was hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  21. i dont mind fireworks if the assholes in my area would just keep them to a decent time, not 1 or 3am.

i can't stand PSLs from starbucks - when i spent $6 for one, i fully expected wonderful flavor explosions given how everyone on IG and the blogosphere was going on about them but ended up raging so hard because it tasted like someone shat in my mouth.

    ReplyDelete
  22. OMG I am the same way with Bob Marley... I don't get the appeal. I have had a post like this in my head but only you can pull it off with the right amount of disdain without complete assholery. I was contemplating real Toms the other day, just because I wear my Target ones so much and I was hoping that the higher price tag would mean greater comfort. Okay, here are some of mine - 50 Shades of Grey, Shonda Rimes TV shows, booties, lululemon (you are sweating in those pants. Why are they $70??).

  23. Lmao completely with you on #3, I will curse you out if you even try to get me into watching one. My boyfriend is respectful and has learned to just not even ask me - If it's borderline suspense, it depends on the premise. Certain things are difficult for me to watch like war movies.. So I agree with you all the way! LOL @ your Bob Marley comment - I don't care for him either or Taylor Swift.. I'll bop to her songs for a few seconds then change the station. She's exhausting for some reason. Have a great weekend Stephanie! -Iva

  24. I love my Toms...and I do seriously hate Facebook, haha. YESSSSS to Taylor Swift and Harry Potter. I just do not get the hype.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I hate that I like Taylor Swift. I like her less than I used to and when I find myself singing w/ her in the car, I hate myself. LOL...but I do like her, damn it. Hahah...I cannot handle scary movies, at all!! No thanks

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm very meh about summer too. It's so freakin hot and I don't get any extra time off -- what's to love?
Popular things I don't like: most sitcoms (esp Big Bang Theory, how can a show about smart people be so dumb?), Uggs, and leggings (I still haven't figured out how to wear leggings without feeling like I'm walking around naked).

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mayonnaise, asparagus, the Real Housewives

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Asparagus is one of my great loves. I've seen some RH but they're not an obsession.

  28. I don't like scary or horror movies either. The images are too vivid & they come to me in the darkest of moments. Grrr. Wait, tell me more, why don't you like perfect backgrounds in photos?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree with many of those. I don't give two shits about Erin Condren planners. I'll stick with my Walmart/Target planner that gets the same job done for a fraction of the cost.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Why in the world does anyone actually allow him/herself to be scared shitless, Voluntarily? Makes no sense at all to me. I won't even watch commercials for scary movies.
I'm not a fan of inclement weather dog walking. Either are most dogs.
    Nicholas Sparks. BORING.
Now that I have a fearless dog I don't mind fireworks. As long as I can stay home for them. I certainly won't drive to them, and then contend with traffic leaving them, having been chewed to shit by mosquitos while watching them.
Amusement parks do NOT amuse me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love Grumpy Cat so much.

And Charlie Brown. Ugh, I've never been a fan either and people are like, "WHAT?"

    ReplyDelete
  32. In no particular order - Starbucks - 50 Shades of Grey - Frozen - The Notebook - Harry Potter anything - Lord of the Rings. I am sure there are more, but that'll do for now.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Blasphemy on Harry Potter!!! My absolute obsession :-P

But I totally agree with you on Taylor Swift.. she makes my ears bleed. And my husband would hug you for Charlie Brown.. he groans every year as I get excited for the Charlie Brown specials.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I LOVE scary movies. I'm getting realllly excited for next Friday and a marathon of Friday the 13th!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Fifty Shades of Grey. Pandora, Nicholas Sparks books, Jodi Picoult, and Any of the Real Housewives shows.

    ReplyDelete
  36. haha about your depiction of Bob Marley. Hilarious. I'm not a fan of his music namely because I don't really like the way it sounds...

Yes to people acting like they hate facebook. I'm by no means obsessed with it and I get that there's annoying facets but it's always the ones who act like they're SOOOOOOOOOOOO above it that are on it the most. I swear.

I love summer, I do. But, this is dead on. Anywhere I arrive in summer I am a hot mess, with a dripping clown face. Me no likey. And I wonder every day why I didn't become a teacher. For the love, I'd take a salary cap over Christmas/Summers off any time now that I know what I'm missing.

I'd say the most popular thing I dislike is jeans. I wear them maybe 5% of my days? I just hate how saggy they get by day's end.

  37. Irish Weekend in Wilwood, NJ, Vera Bradley, Uggs, iced coffee and Harry Potter!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Never been to Irish weekend, and I'm not planning on going. I'm totally with you on Uggs!

  38. Never got into 50 Shades Of Gray (not interested in reading it), spending money on flowers for the house (I feel like every instagram is of peonies lately), cross-body pocketbooks and going to the movie theater. I love movies but since I've gotten older I hate movie theaters.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I loathe fireworks and wouldn't be caught watching a scary movie. Obvi I love summer though... I live in perpetual summer land haha and also therefore am obligated to like Bob. haha

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hmm...I might have to unfollow your blog. We can't be friends any longer. I long for summer nights and if there are fireworks and Bob Marley involved, not much can beat that. lol. I totally get the whole Charlie Brown thing, though.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm right there with you when it comes to scary movies. I'm good thanks. I'm also not a super huge summer fan, the heat blows although I do prefer it to the freezing cold.

    ReplyDelete
  42. We can never go to the movies together because I am always on the search for the perfect scary movie. Unfortunately I always walk out disappointed. They start with such potential then fizzle. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I admit I am a huge Harry Potter fan and have read each book multiple times! But I can't get with The Notebook/Ryan Gosling love. I'm just like 'ehhh'...he's not my type? Definitely do not care about Taylor Swift, and oh man yes the chevron thing is out of control. Oh, any sports. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Fireworks, the curse of every dog owner I swear. I dislike that all they show on the news is weather and shootings, like come on, give me a puppy or something to feel good about this world. I also dislike those roller skates inside kids shoes. Can't stand them.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes! They are totally the curse of every dog owner.

Heelies! I feel like freaking out when a heely-ing kid careens into me.
