In reality, December 31 to January 1 is simply a flip of the calendar page. Symbolically, it's a lot more to me. It's a blank slate I fill how I choose.
It's a new beginning, a chance to discard that which no longer serves me, grows me, or makes me happy so that I may make room for that which will.
It's another year for me to continue to capitalize on my strengths and work on my weaknesses. It's a new planner to fill with goals and ideas. It's a new chance to understand and to be understood. It's a fresh opportunity to be kind every day to myself and to others.
These prospects excite me. I'm ready to turn the page.

Good luck to MFD marching in his 27th (edited...I thought it was the 26th) Mummers Parade tomorrow, as well as all of our friends and family in other bands.

Yes!!! I look at the new year as a blank slate and the opportunity to change what needs to be changed. I wish you and MFD a very healthy and happy 2015!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Wishing you and MFD all the best in 2015. I hope all of your new year's wishes, goals, and good ideas become a reality. Cheers!

ReplyDeleteHappy 2015, friend! I'm so excited for this new blank page.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely not alone in feeling the symbolic weight of that calendar page flip! I feel that way about lots of new things, like all of a sudden I got a blank slate.
ReplyDeleteI have learned to let things go more and start new whenever I am ready, but there is still something in that last-first day of the year that spells new beginnings to me.
Happy New Year, and best of luck with your resolutions!
Same here! I've definitely learned to let go and start new whenever I'm ready or need to, but there's just such delicious anticipation on December 31 and January 1!

ReplyDeleteHappy new year, friend! May it be your best one yet! :D
ReplyDeleteI think of New Year's as more of closing a chapter vs. starting a new one. It's pretty much the same concept, but I tend to focus more on reminiscing about the past year rather than looking forward. Maybe it's because I don't do resolutions or anything, but either way...we all love New Year's!
