Everything She Wants - Under $30

via
Dear friends: Sorry I felt the need to use a very crappy video still for the opening graphic of this post. That 80s hair, you guys. It forced my hand. I love Wham, and that I will not apologize for...this song is decidedly not Christmas-y but the title is good for a list of generic gift ideas, no? Have a listen to the song and peruse the list over a cup of coffee.

Everything She Wants by Wham! on Grooveshark

While I think it's too early for Christmas decor and am puzzled by the eleventy billion Christmas trees in my Instagram feed right now (staunch after Thanksgiving lady here), I like to get the commercialism out of the way so I can enjoy the sights, sounds, and company of framily during the season.

I like to decorate, visit, and bake in December. I do not like to shop for specific items in December, or even go in big stores at all. I do all of my shopping online so I can earn cash back through Ebates. If you haven't signed up for Ebates, you're missing out! Here are some ideas under $30 for the ladies in your life. Some you can see by the photo I already use/own. I always think what brings me joy/is useful/makes life better, and then I tend to gift that around.

Kate Spade NY Reusable Shopping Bag from Nordstrom - $16 and close enough to Treat Yo'Self. It comes in black & white polka dot too.

Earth Therapeutics Soft and Smooth Shut Eye Sleep Mask - $9. Package it with some lavender essential oil and a pair of cozy socks and send your gift recipient off to dream land.

Dirty Dancing DVD - Yes, everyone should own it on DVD in case the apocalypse happens and all streaming systems go down. It's $4.99 on Amazon. Stuff it in everyone's stocking. Be my baby. Nobody puts baby in a corner. Etc.

Not Your Mother's Hair Basket - varies, $5.99 each, catch a buy one get one 50% off at Ulta! I love the Clean Freak Dry ShampooBeach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray, and Smooth Moves Frizz Control Hair Cream. Pack it with some awesome pony tail holders and fire away. Hair needs gifts too.

Yes, Please by Amy Poehler - $18.20 hardcover. I haven't read it but I'm picking it up at the library tonight and I can't imagine it will miss the mark. Amy rules.

For the FNL Fan - $27. Tim Riggins approved.

Muji Acrylic Three Drawer Case - $24.75. Or the two drawer. Or the five drawer. Or any of them. They're sleek and they hold makeup and other small lady things well. I freaking love my Mujis.

Shotgun Lovesongs by Nickolas Butler - $18.92 hardcover. This book spoke to my soul.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Body Butter - regular $20, always on sale. The only thing that gets my skin through the gross scaly winter.

Pug Cosmetics Bag - $15. For my pug peeps. Come on, it's funny.

Echo All Over Touch Gloves - $28. I own them in light chartreuse but love all the colors. They're warm too.

Who doesn't love a coffee mug? This one is one I personally own from OnDisplayGraphics on Etsy. She's got a lot of cool mugs. Pop a bag of coffee or a box of K-Cups in the bag and you're good to go.

What are some gifts you're giving aside from peace, love, and your presence this year?

  4. ..is everything she sees. WHAM RULES EVERYTHING. when that whole controversy of him getting caught in a skeevy bathroom with some dude, i didn't give a shit and simply thought: "as long as he can take that dick out of his mouth long enough to sing some damn good songs, IDGAF what he does in his spare time". or something way less offensive because i was only like, 12 when this all went down.

i'm giving away a whole bunch of crocheted stuff because who doesn't like stuff that old hags make? they're made with love, maybe with some cute imperfections which make them unique. also, mugs are a win as are bags of coffee. in fact, those are on my christmas list :D

  6. Christmas shopping this year was hard! My family's all flying out to California, so gifts have to be small and it would be awesome if I had an idea of just one great gift for each family member, but I don't. And the less spot-on the gift is, the more I feel compelled to buy more stuff, even though I know it's not about the material things.

My favorite gift ideas are the experience based ones - zoo memberships for a couple of my friends with small kids, and a pottery class for Ryan and I to take together (we've been talking about doing this all year).

I want everything on your list - for me. Lol!

  7. Dirty Dasncing is always a good idea! I have that body butter in coconut and a peach one, love their stuff. You know me and mugs!! Everyone is getting one this year!!! Okay maybe not everyone but almost! ;)

  8. I need some FNL gear. New mugs are on my list too.

I got a commemorative disc set of Dirty Dancing when I was in high school and I don't think I've watched it since (I'm sorry).

  9. That pug cosmetic bag is everything, adorable!

  10. I bought a bunch of those Treat Yourself bags a few months ago, and they will be under the trees for some friends this Christmas!

  11. I love George Michael and Wham! Love Kathy's comment about them. I am staunch after Thanksgiving for Christmas decorations. Good God, let the thankful, no gifts holiday have it's time! That eye mask looks divine! As you well know, I adore Epsom salts baths and credit that with my spectacular recovery from the Shingles! I would put together a nice bath basket. I love nice little perfume purse sizes- can be found at Ulta for under $30. I also LOVE to trick wrap gifts. It is so fun! Especially since one of my gift openers opens his gifts so quickly I feel like the Tasmanian devil hit the room! Oh so excited for this time of year- especially the warm, loving vibes in the atmosphere. Very nice post! Love, YOUR MOMMA

  12. These are my favorite kinds of gifts- the sweet little ones! I have never turned down a coffee mug, that's always a win for me! And I have tried some of the NYM products and they were awesome, that sea salt spray sounds right up my alley! Awesome list!

  13. $5 for Dirty Dancing?! Added that right to my cart, thank you! It's been on twice recently that I've seen... once w/ commercials (gasp!) and once with scenes cut out (double-gasp!). I need this DVD and am embarrassed to say I don't have it!

  14. I have that sea salt spray! Bomb dot com! I need some new coffee mugs in my life… Oh wait, this is what I'm buying other people. This year, it's small little things like that. They mean the most anyway!
My muji makes me swoon. Seriously...

  15. George Michael's Last Christmas is one of my favorite songs ever!! I've heard great thinks about Amy's book!

  16. It made me think of titling a post 'all that she wants' ace of base style. Long live the 80s and 90s, my friend! I want muji drawers. Definitely going to pull the trigger on those soon, I just need to see what products I have and determine my actual needs first!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I think I need the Muji...you keep singing their praises so I might have to do it.

I am trying to do small gifts + gift cards this year since we are staying here for Christmas and won't see a bunch of our family and I am not trying to keep the USPS in business with the money I spend on shipping gifts. I love getting gift cards...I know a lot of people think they are impersonal and the easy way out, but shopping on someone else's dime and I get to use it whenever and on whatever I want? Sign me up.

  18. Oh I love Muji!! I wish they had a store in Boston!! I love to just browse that store!! Love that KS tote.

  19. You're so awesome and simple :) My list includes $200 boots I will wear forever - so my bf is on that. Lol That's all I want though; gadgets are a different story. I want a camera so bad and bad ass speakers to link to my dj console but those will require patience hehe :) There's always tons of little things I want like a bathrobe and slippers <3 Gotta prioritize! I avoid shopping this season - it's too much, the mall is an overabundance of stimulation all signaling your brain to do some irresponsible shopping. Nope - not it. Avoidance is my safe bet, Lol. Happy Hump Day love! -Iva

  20. I completely agree on the shopping aspect...I try to have all of my shopping (well, and decorating too!) done before Thanksgiving so from Thanksgiving until Christmas I can really enjoy the season. And I'm a therapeutic baker so that relaxes me and isn't a chore to do. HA!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm also an after thanksgiving kind of gal...one of my friends had hers up the day after halloween. I almost unfriended her. My obligatory wish list is going up next week!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks for including my shirts!!!! that was too kind.i also love the pug makeup costmetics bag. i'm working on a gift guide right now!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I've been searching for one of those plastic drawer sets to organize my makeup! And that makeup bag is perfect!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I live + die by Not Your Mother's stuff, it's the best!

  25. The Amy Poehler book is AWESOME reading it now. So much better than Lena Dunham's. We usually decorate our house the day after Thanksgiving because I refuse to leave the house on Black Friday. I know, I'm a little extreme! I'm giving some gift cards this year along with little things like gloves, slippers or jewelry. My sister would love the hot pink gloves you have listed.

  26. Ebates is amazing. I never shop without it.

I think I need those Muji things. At least one!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't own Dirty Dancing on DVD. Clearly this is a travesty and I am buying it right now.
And now I want the Shotgun Lovesongs for myself.. Um so this didn't help me buy gifts for anyone else, but I need gits too, no judgement.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Amy Poehler and FNL mentioned in one post? My brain just exploded from all the awesomeness.

I'm a staunch after Thanksgiving lady as well. No Christmas before that fat man makes his way down 34th Street.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The Book Riot said the Amy Poehler book was great so I can't wait to see it! I have a vague idea of what we are buying for Christmas but I need to coordinate with the hubs. Amazon, here we come :).

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love all of these ideas- they are perfect for anyone on your list. And yeah- I was thinking of the Ace of Base song too after reading the title! I'm staying with small gifts for people this year, nothing over $30 except for my momma.

  32. I just finished Yes Please last night. It is awesome!! You'll love it. I won't entertain the idea of Christmas decor until AFTER Thanksgiving, either. It's insane!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Not Your Mother's products are the best!!!!!!! Best item you listed even though I want them all. I really need to get on the eBates bandwagon and also start my Christmas shopping!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Those gloves look so comfortable!

I usually tell my husband to just get me a gift card to Target since I'm there so often.

    ReplyDelete
  35. While you know I am already signing Christmas music at the top of my longs, and have since November 1, I can get down down to some Wham.

I love your list! I have the dry shampoo and lotion and can vouch for those being awesome! Pug anything is adorbs...whether you have one or not! And those books just got added to my to read list!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm glad someone agrees with me on the no decorating until after Thanksgiving! I feel like all these early decorators are skipping over the holiday completely. Great list of gifts - I think I may self-gift myself Dirty Dancing and Yes Please!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Pete tells me shit that's on Netflix all the time and I always feel like I need the DVD, too.
I got Pete a PS4 for an early gift so I'm trying to come up with some little things to get him. I always do a stocking no matter what... stockings are my favorite actually! :)

  38. These are great! I love that list!

  39. Man, that song is so good. George Michael is number one on my concert bucket list. I love him/Wham so much! It's so bad that I just added a bunch of this stuff to MY wishlist, huh? Ha! I think FNL is going to be my big winter binge-watch. I really, really hate to say it, but Amy's book disappointed me a little. :(

    ReplyDelete
  40. I love the video. haha I normally buy a lot of local gifts because our downtown has great little stores with lots of fun options.

    ReplyDelete
  41. My favorite under $30 gift to give is cute comfy pj's, everyone needs PJ's!

I added Shotgun Lovesongs to my want to read list last week!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Amy is on my list, but I'll be checking the library if I don't get it. I need to add that acrylic drawer set because I need organization like mad in my makeup area!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I do all my shopping online also. Love ebates! And count me in on the no Christmas until after Thanksgiving rule.
